Retail Gallery – Scarf, ceramic jug and mug

With Covid Restrictions now changed
to Alert Level 0 here in Wales
we have updated our Visitor Policy here

From 11th August

our new opening times will be:

10am – 5.30pm Tuesday – Sunday

(closed on Mondays)

You are welcome to visit at any time during our public opening hours.

However it is important to understand
that the rules here in Wales are slightly different.

• It remains a legal obligation in Wales to wear a face covering in all indoor public places.
We therefore require and encourage you to wear a face covering when visiting us
(unless exempt), for your safety and for that of our staff.

• Craft Centre staff will continue to wear face coverings
(in line with Welsh Government requirements)

• We ask that you continue to wash your hands on entry with the sanitising gel provided.

• Social Distancing – Help us to continue to keep everyone safe
by maintaining clear physical distance, whenever possible, from customers and staff
when you’re in Ruthin Craft Centre.

Our doors are open and we look forward
to welcoming you to the centre.

#4 Dave Roberts

11 August – 4 September 2021

Dave Roberts

Dave Roberts is a self-taught pastel artist who specialises
in painting the landscapes of North Wales.
He was born in Aberystwyth and now lives in Caerwys, Flintshire.
He became a full-time professional artist in 2018.

His work is the antithesis of how most people would imagine a pastel painting to be;
it is detailed, vivid and full of deep contrasts.

Dave will often be found in the mountains at dawn or dusk as these are the best times
to capture that moment “in between” day and night when the light creates the drama
that is such an important aspect of his paintings.
As Dave explains, few experiences are as ethereal or elemental as being alone
in the mountains at twilight.

Pastels are Dave’s chosen medium because of their immediacy.
There are no rules to follow and there is no pre-mixing or waiting for paints to dry.
This means that the creative process is entirely uninhibited.
