Bridging Programmes

Primary Bridging Programmes

Will and Sean have been hard at work preparing their P1 and P2 students for a reader’s theatre performance of adaptations of two entries of last year’s Chatteris Storytelling Competition. Meanwhile, the resources have been finalised for the final Primary Bridging Programme of the summer, which will prepare Kindergarten 3 students to join Leung Sing Tak in September. The students will read and analyse Chatteris' favourite reader ‘Dear Zoo’ across the course of four days.

Secondary Bridging Programmes

Caeti, Jack, Ben, Henry, Aishe, Hayley and Justine finished their two week placements at K S Lo College leading lessons for Pre-S1 and Pre-S2 students. While Edgar, Holly, Tommy and Hermione finished their two week placement at Wong Shiu Chi Secondary School. Thank you for all of your hard work!

Muni has continued to lead a series of speaking lessons with a class of All Saints’ MS students, using a number of speaking activities to prepare students for their senior form classes this year.

Environment Summer Camp

The final summer camp wrapped up on Wednesday 11th August and the team can agree that we’re feeling mixed emotions seeing the back of them. It has been a pleasure seeing students get excited about spotting spiders on the nature walk, furiously making little peanut presents for the macaques at Kadoorie Farm, and having a splash around in the sea, after so many months stuck at home in front of a screen. We will not miss the amount of sweating that went along with the whole experience, but it was certainly worth it! I feel very proud of what we achieved supporting the 60 odd students over the past six weeks.

I want to say my deepest thank you to Eibhlin, Holly, Luke and Paddy who remained enthusiastic throughout the whole experience, and were always dedicated to providing the best possible experience for the students. I couldn’t have done it without you all!

Online Learning

Chatteris Superheroes
After updating the Environment and Global Cultures courses to include a blended learning programme of 6 in-person lessons to complement the online lessons; the superheroes team have set their sights on developing the STEM and Drama and Presentation courses starting with a review of the courses by STEM brainiacs Justine and Muni and Drama and Presentation superstars Caeti and Hermione!

Incoming CNETs

Arrivals!

The new CNETs are beginning to arrive in Hong Kong! As of Thursday, there are more than 10 of the new bunch patiently undergoing quarantine in the PentaHotel, Diamond Hill.

Thank you to all of of you who have already stepped up to the mark to support the new cohort by running errands for your mentees, hosting evening activities and supporting orientation sessions. We are so grateful for your support!

A huge shout out to all the SCNET mentors for welcoming the newly arrived CNETs and helping with dropping off snacks and necessities at their hotel.

Orientation

The first round of orientation has begun, with SCNETs and CNETs attending CIGP related sessions, introducing everything from the Wellbeing Programme to Chatteris Lead.

Please keep an eye on your calendar to see which sessions we'd like you to attend.

Head over to The Chatteris Blog to check out our posts.

In our latest addition, Alice Deptford interviews ex-CNET Emily Lagan about her transition from Chatteris to Teach First.
