Yes, we said it, back to school...

The kids may not want to hear it yet (there are still almost 3 weeks left of summer vacation after all) but back to school puts us in the mood to start thinking about making things for fall and that's one of our favorite things!

Back to school season also usually brings tax-free weekend with it and it's this weekend - the 14th and 15th! Yarn is always tax free but if you've been thinking about new needles, fun notions, or stocking up on some books, this is your chance to save a little dough.

New Yarn!

Fall means it's time for us to bring in new yarn and this is the first of the bunch. Meet Cloud by Lang Yarns!

This beautiful bulky weight is soooo soft - think fuzzy kittens level soft. It's 90% mulesing free superwash merino and 10% nylon and has a whopping 284 yards per ball.

Want to whip up some quick hats? Need a fast, easy care baby sweater? The recommended gauge is 3.25 stitches per inch but this yarn is so fluffy that it will work for a pretty wide range.

We were inspired to bring this in by roentgen's "Novice Cardigan".

In fact, we liked her sweater so much that Tracy's going to make one too and is putting a class together so you can join her! If you want to check out the pattern on Ravelry, click HERE.

Speaking of classes....

We're working on setting up our Fall class calendar and we want to hear from you!

Sometimes putting classes together feels like the opposite of the Field of Dreams adage of "If you build it, they will come." We build it and then hope and hope that we've picked a technique/pattern that's intriguing to folks and scheduled it on the right day of the week at a good time.

Will you help us plan things that you're really interested in and take a few minutes to fill out this survey for us?

Your responses will be anonymous but feel free to leave your contact information in the last question if you would like us to get back to you personally.

We thank you in advance for your feedback!

Newly added to the calendar is
Beyond the Foundations of Knitting with Lauren!

You've made a plain knit project - a hat, a scarf, what have you - and you want to fancy up your knitting and know more about lace, cables, and colorwork? Lacy shawls, cabled hats, and colorful mittens call out to you every time you see them but they seem a little intimidating? This is the class for you!

This 3 class series will focus on lace, cables, all kinds of colorwork, blocking, and finishing your knits.

In order to sign up for this class, you should be confident in your skills with casting on, knitting, purling, binding off, increasing, decreasing, knitting in the round, and reading a simple pattern.

Classes will be held in the evening on September 13th, 27th and October 18th.

Berroco Project of the Week
(Yarn and pattern links in this section will take you to Berroco's pages for the design and the yarn.)

Still want to knit with "summer yarn" but starting to think about when you'll need long sleeves again? Not a wool wearer?

"Joanna" may be the project for you.

An all over lace pullover with a relaxed fit, "Joanna" is the kind of sweater you want to throw on over a tank when you need a little extra layer. Dress it up for dinner or the office or down for the park. The stitch pattern is both charted and written out in this pattern, so don't fret if charts aren't your thing.

Knit in beautiful Berroco Chai, this sweater is sized from 35.5" to 67.5" and has a recommended positive ease of 6-10" for a relaxed fit - it's shown on the model in the 49" size. You'll need the kit from Berroco, US size 4 and 6 needles, some waste yarn, and a darning needle to make this beauty.

Chai is a DK weight blend of 56% linen and 44% silk. The linen lends itself to a beautiful drape and the silk gives the yarn some luster. Because the two different fibers take up the dye differently, this yarn has an inherent stonewashed look to it that makes for eye-catching finished objects.

Each ball contains142 yards and retails for $13.  Depending on the size you choose, you'll need anywhere from 7 to 14 balls to make "Joanna".

As always there is an additional $7 shipping charge for these drop ship orders so Berroco can send them straight to your door.

Want to order one of these kits? Go to Berroco's pages for the design and yarn to check out the details and choose your size and color (clicking on the links/pictures above will take you straight to them!). Then click here and send us an email. We'll be in touch to confirm your information and process your payment.

Is there an older Project of the Week that you're still thinking about? We can likely still get it! Check the Berroco 1-2-3 Dropship Store to figure out all the details and then use the email link above to send us a message.
