Produce Box Giveaways Continue

East Hollywood Neighborhood Council, Mitch O’Farrell’s Office (CD13) & Children’s Hospital Los Angeles are continuing their partnership with Rick’s Produce Market to give away fresh produce boxes to East Hollywood stakeholders.

Dates:

  • Sunday, Aug 22nd at 10 AM
  • Sunday, Sep 12th at 10 AM
  • Sunday, Sep 26th at 10 AM
  • Sunday, Oct 10th at 10 AM

LocationRick's Produce Market (Parking Lot), 755 N. Virgil Ave, LA, CA 90027)

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Boxes are distributed on a first come, first served basis while supplies last. Please line up early to ensure you get a box.
  • Limit one box per household.
  • We are invested in the safety of our community - please wear a mask and maintain social distance while waiting in line.

Free outdoor event at Griffith Park: Shakespeare Festival hosted by Independent Shakespeare Co.

Shakespeare returns to Griffith Park with The Tempest. Tucked into a dell at the top of the Old Zoo, this production celebrates the power of Shakespeare’s language as well as the beauty of Griffith Park. Independent Shakespeare Co. looks forward to reuniting with you this summer at the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival!

Free reservations open on a rolling basis at 10am, 7 days prior to a performance date. Performances run August 7 - September 5, Wednesday - Sunday at 7pm. Attendees typically bring a picnic blanket, picnic dinner & water and light layers (it gets chilly when the sun goes down) so they can best enjoy the festival.

Shakespeare regresa a Griffith Park con La tempestad. Escondida en un dell en la parte superior del Old Zoo, esta producción celebra el poder del lenguaje de Shakespeare, así como la belleza de Griffith Park. ¡Independent Shakespeare Co. espera reunirse con usted este verano en el Festival gratuito de Shakespeare de Griffith Park!

Las reservas gratuitas se abren de forma continua a las 10 a.m., 7 días antes de la fecha de presentación. Las presentaciones se ejecutan del 7 de agosto al 5 de septiembre, miércoles a domingo a las 7 p.m. Los asistentes suelen traer una manta de picnic, una cena de picnic y agua y capas ligeras (se enfría cuando se pone el sol) para que puedan disfrutar mejor del festival.

LA County Residents Can Now Access FEMA Funeral Expense Relief

LA County residents are able apply for financial help for funeral expenses through the FEMA COVID-19 Funeral Assistance Program. Individuals can apply for FEMA's COVID-19 Funeral Assistance by calling (844) 684-6333 or (800) 462-7585 (TTY) for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. There is no deadline to apply.

Individuals can call Monday through Friday, from 6 AM to 6 PM PST. Translators will be available to assist callers who do not speak English. To be eligible for funeral assistance, LA County residents must meet the following conditions established by FEMA:

  • The death must have occurred in the United States, including the US territories and the District of Columbia
  • The death certificate must indicate the death was attributed to COVID-19
  • The applicant must be a US citizen, non-citizen national, or a qualified non-citizen who incurred funeral expenses after January 20, 2020.

There are no residential or legal status requirements regarding the deceased person. To get more information about this program, please visit FEMA.gov.
