Vaccination Policy for Staff
You may have seen that today Mayor Bowser announced her policy on COVID-19 vaccination for DC-government employees, including staff at DC public schools.
Our own vaccination policy for Creative Minds employees was shared with staff yesterday. By September 30, 2021, all staff members must do one of the following:
- Obtain and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination
- Request a reasonable accommodation if they are unable to be vaccinated for COVID-19
Vaccination exemptions will be granted for physician-certified medical reasons and for sincerely held religious beliefs. Employees who are not fully vaccinated will be required to submit to weekly testing for COVID-19 and show proof of a negative test. We’re in discussion to continue our at-school COVID testing in 2021–22.
Please note that privacy laws prohibit us from sharing the vaccination status of any employee.
In addition to enacting our vaccination policy, we are continuing with health and safety protocols for the entire community. These include masking, daily health screenings, social-distancing practices, and the regular disinfection of our school building. We’ll share all of our updated protocols in back-to-school communications in the next couple of weeks.
On October 29, we’re hosting a free health clinic for flu and COVID vaccines. Our hope is that COVID vaccination will be approved for all children by this date. In the meantime, please consider the free COVID vaccine for children ages 12 and older. Our community is safer when everyone who is able to get vaccinated receives the COVID vaccine. DC is offering incentives for youth vaccination, including gift cards and the chance to win a $25,000 college scholarship. Find information at the DC Health website.
If you have any questions about our vaccination policy, please email Laverne Bailey, human resources manager. For questions about health and safety protocols, email our Reception Team.
