COVIDSafe Update.

Dear SBMT Community,

By now most of you would have heard the news that metropolitan Melbourne is continuing our current lockdown arrangements until 11.59pm next Thursday 19 August.

This unfortunately means no training, no matches and no functions for all SBMT senior and junior teams as well as Auskick. Please note the upcoming Hall of Fame lunch scheduled for this weekend will be rescheduled at a date to be determined.

For some of us, this news may cause some concern and even distress. For those affected by loss of work and earnings, by the confines of remote-learning, or those struggling with maintaining positive mental health, please reach out to your SBMT friends for support. Remember it is absolutely ok to say that you’re not ok. This is a time like no other for our whole community, so for SBMT club members not adversely affected, you might consider reaching out to our club community who may be vulnerable, live alone, or who you know are having a tough time. As we have often stated, your call can make all the difference to someone else.
Remember at SBMT:
Strong today
Stronger tomorrow
Strongest together

We are fortunate to have had the opportunity to play and enjoy our facility in the first half of the season. Read on for mid year reports from both our SBMT Senior (VAFA) Committee President Paul O’Toole and SBMT Junior (SMJFL) Committee President Craig Howe.

Information about the return to play and training after the current lockdown will be communicated via our socials as well as individual team arrangements from team managers/coaches as soon as any information is known.

Stay safe and stay connected,
Lou.

Winter is well and truly upon us with the condition of our home ground at Brindisi Reserve still in reasonable condition considering the amount of wet weather we have experienced over the past few months.   The club has recently purchased its own covers to protect the centre wicket and our SBMT Director of Coaching (Juniors) Joe Galati, has done an amazing job in maintaining the centre wicket with the help of a few foot soldiers. Such is the condition of our ground that the SMJFL are looking to host finals at the ground which will definitely help make up for a fair amount of lost revenue over the lockdown period. SBMT SMJFL President – Mid Season Report – 2021

Hi All, I hope that everyone is coping as well as possible during this latest round of lockdowns.  Once again we find our football season challenged by Covid; a stop-start fixture has meant that we have all had to adjust quickly to get our kids on the park as much as possible.  Despite these challenges I am both encouraged and pleasantly surprised by the passion and commitment that our players, officials and parents have shown towards our club and the game.  After last year, it has been great to see our players on the field again, even though we have been forced to miss a few games.
