SVMA E-News August 17, 2021

As a public health precaution, the SVMA Office continues to limit access to members and the public. However, office staff can be available for scheduled meetings. Please  contact us by phone or email during the usual office hours (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Mon to Fri) to make arrangements.
SVMA Annual General Meeting
September 12, 2021 at 1pm


The 2021 Annual General Meeting will be held virtually. See below for details.
The SVMA 2021 Annual Report is now available for review via the SVMA Member Portal (Resource Library), it will also be posted on the AGM website.  Any member requiring a hard-copy, please contact the office.

If you are unable to attend and you require a proxy to vote for you, please fill out this form and send it to svma@svma.sk.ca

Please ensure your contact information is up to date on your member portal. It is each member's responsibility to keep contact information current at all times. All SVMA and committee communications use the information contained in the database.

 
The AGM will be hosted on this site:https://live.webcastplatform.com/go/SVMA-AGM2021, you will be automatically registered by the SVMA staff next week.

Tips for a successful experience:
  • Please ensure that you go to the site ahead of time. 
  • Have a good internet connection, so that you can view the live stream and cast your votes. Please close all other applications/windows and turn off Wi-Fi on other devices that may occupy bandwidth.
  • Members will be able to request to speak. The option to type responses will also be available.
  • Pease be patient during the meeting as we ensure that all voting members have time to cast their vote.

DVMs and half of the RVTs started a new CE reporting period January 1, 2021 which will end December 31, 2022. Half of the RVTs will have their CE reporting period end December 31, 2021.

SAVT Updates
 
SAVT’s Workplace Guidelines Committee is excited to share Safety Snippets.  These snippets will be shared regularly and are meant to provide a bit of safety education for veterinary professionals.
Join the SAVT at 7:00pm on August 23, 2021 for Clinical Practice Specialty Information Session with representatives from the Academy of Veterinary Technicians in Clinical Practice (AVTCP).  The AVTCP representatives will share information on their specialty and answer your questions.  AVTCP has three different subspecialties: production animal, small animal, and exotic companion animals.  Each of these specialties will be addressed at this session.  This session is possible for rural and urban RVTs.  Tickets are free to RVTs and veterinary professional across North America.  Registration is required for this virtual event.  Clinical Practice Specialty Information Session Tickets, Mon, 23 Aug 2021 at 7:00 PM | Eventbrite

SAVT’s Rural Engagement Committee recognizes that specialties are not as accessible for RVTs in rural locations so they’ve put together a series that shares other designations and certification that are accessible to RVTs.  These certifications and designations will contribute to the advancement of an RVT’s career and increase what a clinic can offer patients and clients.  Learn about them along with us!
