Embedding Project Newsletter – August 2021

Every month, we curate the best in corporate sustainability and bring you useful new tools and resources, upcoming events, and leading practice to inspire you. Global events this past month drove home that the systems around us are changing and sustainability pressures are constantly evolving. In fact, humanity is closely on track with a path that a 1970’s MIT model forecasted would lead to radical shifts in our societies, economies, and environment in the coming decades. And the most robust scientific research project (possibly ever) predicts dire consequences if we don’t take immediate comprehensive action on climate change. It is more important than ever for companies to scan beyond the ‘typical’ sustainability topics and scan emerging issues that may come to affect core business. Our new resources help your company explore emerging environmental, social, and governance issues to support strategic allocation of resources and risk management. We hope you’ll enjoy this issue!

A Highlight From Our Community

While Deloitte was praised recently for being an early mover in developing its employees’ climate literacy, companies in our own community are taking the lead too. We’ve been working with Nedbank and our new partner Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) to develop engaging training videos to help their employees understand the relevance of sustainability issues like climate change for the world and for their business.
