Hello,

I hope you are enjoying the first signs of spring.

In this newsletter, I share tips for embracing the energy of early spring. I know many of you are feeling heartache and perhaps even helplessness right now—so I also share how to meet your plant ally. A plant ally is a plant that you have a close relationship with, much like a close friend. They are especially wonderful at helping you to tune in to your intuition and find clarity. I also introduce you to a little project I am finally ready to release into the world and share details of upcoming Inside Time Outside retreats. I finish with a little heads-up regarding a name change. This is the last email newsletter you will receive from Tricia (Little eco footprints). The next email will be from Tricia D. Walker.

Early Spring is the ideal time to unfurl.

Here in the southern hemisphere, we recently passed the midpoint between winter solstice and spring equinox—early spring—the birth of a new solar year.

Energetically it is equivalent to the early hours of the morning before sunrise. It is still dark outside, but things are starting to stir.

It is a time for dreaming, brainstorming and scattering seeds. It is a time rich with potential and the ideal time to unfurl and begin new projects. I liken the seasonal energies right now to that early-morning moment when I plan my day. I look at my calendar and my to-do list and schedule in what matters most.

That hint of potential may have you feeling like you can achieve anything and everything. But make sure you unfurl slowly. Be careful not to lock yourself in to too much, because by early summer you may feel like sacrificing a few seedlings so that you can focus on your most precious plants.

Right now, the moon is in a matching phase. New moon. So it is well-and-truly an ideal time for planning.

Do you know what it is that most deserves your attention right now? If not, it may be time to meet your plant ally…..

How to meet your plant ally

I know many of you are feeling heartache and perhaps even helplessness right now. There's so much we need to change about the way we live—and this week's release of the latest climate report from the UN's IPCC is a reminder of that. The results are not surprising. We have to act now or we're stuffed. And we know what needs to happen. But many of us don't know how to help or where to start. It seems too big a problem.

But we can all make a difference—in our own unique way.

I worry social media homogenises our responses to situations. We need to stay informed and be inspired, and the online world is a wonderful place for that. But we also need time to sit with our own thoughts. We won’t discover how our personal interests and talents align with what society needs if we let the ideas of others infiltrate more than their fair share of our minds. Unique, creative and innovative solutions need time to simmer.

I suspect your heart knows what you need to do. So rather than look outwards for inspiration—look inwards. I know that can be hard to do with all the information being thrown at us these days, and with all the thoughts racing through your mind—but having a plant ally can help.

A plant ally is a plant that you have a close relationship with, much like a close friend. They are especially wonderful at helping you to tune in to your intuition and find clarity.

Do you have one already? Would you like one?

Right now my closest plant ally is nettle. I sit with her most days, and I am always amazed at the clarity I find.

Are you game? If you are, and give it a go, I would LOVE to hear how you found the experience (simply respond to this email).

Introducing nature memoir Greenhood: the delight in being dormant

Speaking of springtime unfurling...

My forthcoming book Greenhood: the delight in being dormant will be out 19th November 2021. It is a nature memoir about discovering the delight in being dormant.

I hope Greenhood inspires you to create a clearing in your life—a dormant moment to imbibe in your essence—to rest, reflect, and revise, so that you can emerge renewed and with clarity, knowing exactly what it is you wish to cultivate.
You can read a little more about Greenhood here

Upcoming spring INSIDE TIME OUTSIDE retreats

I guess there is some uncertainty regarding whether the September Inside Time Outside Retreats will go ahead. But what I can promise is that if we are unable to proceed due to COVID restrictions, I will refund in full or happily transfer your registration to future gatherings.

The 12th September event is sold out and there are only a few places remaining for the 19th September retreat.

Each day includes the usual mix of nature meditation, barefoot wandering, nourishing food, safe solitude, and gathering in circle.

I don’t want finances to be what stops anyone from attending, so please get in touch if you would like to negotiate a discount or trade.
Book for the upcoming spring INSIDE TIME OUTSIDE gathering here.

Tricia D. Walker.

I’m unfurling into spring by stepping into a new name. Tricia D. Walker is the pseudonym I'll be using for my nature connection work and for my forthcoming book Greenhood: the delight in being dormant. You'll need to read Greenhood if you would like to know why ;-)

So, this is the last email newsletter you will receive from Tricia (Little eco footprints). The next email will be from Tricia D. Walker. Just a heads up in case you wonder who she is when she pops up in your in box ;-)

With love,
Tricia
