Library Checklist for Faculty

As we all prepare to begin a new semester at Oxford, below are some important to-do items and information to keep in mind as you finalize your course plans.

Oxford College librarians are committed to student success, both in and out of the classroom. Librarians can work with you to identify key resources, develop targeted information literacy instruction, and design learning objects that will help your students succeed in their studies.

Partner in Teaching & Learning

  • Visit our Faculty Support page to get started accessing Emory Libraries resources and services for faculty.

Partner in Student Success

  • Embed the libraries’ Quick Start Guide into your Canvas course to provide your students with easy access to key library resources and services.

  • Consider including a link to the library’s one-on-one Research Assistance Scheduling Tool in your syllabus or Canvas course. Your students can get focused research help 7 days a week.

  • Request specialized in-class training on research management tools like Zotero.

Partner in Research

  • Contact your Personal Librarian to discuss how we can assist with your personal research.

  • Visit the library Research Support guide to learn more about our support for Data Services, Open Access, and Digital Projects.

  • Submit a request to have the Discovery Seminar Library Research Modules added to your Canvas course. Just contact your personal librarian for access!

  • Reserve dates for in-class library instruction. Your personal librarian will work with you to design library instruction that will equip your students with the information literacy and critical thinking skills essential to their success at Emory.

The Oxford College Library will provide both physical and electronic reserves for your courses this semester. Course reserves include textbooks, journal articles, book chapters, and any other supplemental materials you would like your students to have access to during the semester. To ensure copyright compliance, please be sure to have these items added to your course reserves and not directly to Canvas.

If you plan to have items on course reserves, please contact the Course Reserves Team ASAP to ensure that all items will be available in time for the start of classes. Please email the Course Reserves Team at oxreserves@listserv.cc.emory.edu and include the course name, number, and a list of items you would like to have added. To learn more, please visit our Course Reserves LibGuide.

eBook Guide: This guide provides information about eBooks that are available through Emory and how to use them in your courses.

Open Educational Resources (OER): The resources on this webpage will help you locate openly licensed scholarly materials to use in your courses.
