The 2021-22 Presbyterian Women Horizons Bible Study is entitled "What My Grandmothers Taught Me: Learning from the Women In Matthew's Genealogy of Jesus."
Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba, and Mary—Matthew names these women for a reason. How might Jesus have heard the stories of his grandmothers? What can these Grandmothers-of-the-Faith teach us? By exploring these stories together, we will gain a richer understanding of God's good news in Jesus Christ.
This study will be led by Lib McGregor Simmons, parish associate at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church. It will meet via Zoom on the last Sunday of each month from 7-8 p.m. The first meeting will be August 29.
The study is open to all and will be especially helpful for persons who will be leading their monthly circle Bible study.
Register for the class HERE, and you will be sent an automatic Zoom link.

Formation for Christian Living in a New World Tuesday, August 24, 2021 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm (Eastern Time) Presenter: John Roberto- We form people in the practices of the Christian way of life by drawing upon the wisdom of the Bible and Christian tradition, and connecting the practices to the “signs of the times” – the struggles, joys, needs, and hungers of people and communities today, and equipping people with the skills and ways to live the practice in their daily life. The webinar will present the vision and tools for designs for designing Christian practices formation programs. There will examples of curriculum approaches, program designs, and learning activities that churches can use. John Roberto is president of Lifelong Faith Associates and has spent a lifetime working in faith formation— teaching, writing, researching, and consulting. He founded Lifelong Faith Associates in 2006 to continue his work. His latest publications include Faith Formation with a New Generation, Families at the Center of Faith Formation, Seasons of Adult Faith Formation, Reimagining Faith Formation for the 21st Century, and Generations Together. His website is www.LifelongFaith.com.
Planning for 2022 and Beyond: A Faith Formation Planning Clinic Tuesday, September 28, 2021 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm (Eastern Time) Presenter: Catherine (Catzel) LaVecchia This webinar is in the form of a clinic to guide churches in developing a plan for post-pandemic faith formation using the ideas and strategies presented in the webinars. Catherine (Catzel) LaVecchia is the Director of Lifelong Learning at Church of the Presentation, Upper Saddle River, NJ. She has served in various ministry capacities for the past 30 years, including youth ministry, family faith formation, and lifelong faith formation. Mackay Presbyterian Mission – Presbyterian Home Services Ministry
The Presbyterian Home Services Ministry is a ministry created by the Mackay Presbyterian Mission in order to serve as an intermediary between people, churches or entities in need of some kind of residential maintenance or construction services with people or groups of Hispanic/Latino workers in our community. Sadly, our families often face economic, health and safety insecurity due to the lack of employment or the lack of fair compensation for work performed. The ministry has been created to help alleviate some of those concerns. The following are a list of services offered by the ministry:
- Painting
- Metal Roofing
- Roof Shingles
- Wood Framing
- Porch
- Siding
- Screened Porch
- Install Windows
- Wood Flooring
- Concrete flooring
- Foundation
The procedure will be as follow; the Mackay Presbyterian Mission receives a request of service, then we contact qualified/competent personnel who can effectively and satisfactorily complete the request. The person or group interested in the service will receive a quote for the requested work. All economic negotiations will be between the party requesting the service and the person or group that will perform the service. The Mackay Presbyterian Mission will not receive any economic compensation for any involvement. Charleston Atlantic Presbytery does not endorse the particular contractors nor does it warrant the work. The August 27 GAB book Nomadland by Jessica Bruder was the inspiration for the film which was awarded the most recent Best Picture Oscar. One reviewer has written, "This is an important book.… A calmly stated chronicle of devastation. But told as story after story, it is also a riveting collection of tales about irresistible people―quirky, valiant people who deserve respect and a decent life."
