Wellness Ambassador Spotlight

Sarah Herrera, Mondavi Center

"Focusing on wellness has been one of the greatest gifts I have given myself and shared with others. In a world full of constant distractions and challenges, wellness gives me the opportunity to slow down, hit the reset button, and focus on the things that matter most.

Featured Wellness Mini Grant
The Internship and Career Center (ICC) used the funds from their Mini-grant to purchase picnic blankets and yoga mats to get their co-workers outside and to build a community!  The group was enthusiastic about the connection from the lunches and it allowed newer staff members to connect with peers in an informal setting.

The Healthy Department Certification is designed to highlight those departments that are making strides toward practicing and promoting health and well-being in the workplace. The application focuses on eight areas of well-being and aims to start a conversation on where your department is doing well as well as highlight areas that have room for improvement. Completion of the Certification within the last 3 years is a pre-requisite for applying for a Wellness Ambassador Mini Grant.
More information and a preview of questions can be found on our webpage here. The Certification can be completed through this Qualtrics link by Wednesday, September 22nd.

In healthy aging, it is important to consider the nutrients of concern in older adults!

“Nutrients of Concern” are dietary components that the Dietary Guidelines for Americans have identified as at risk for underconsumption. There are a few nutrients of concern that apply to everyone, but additional nutrients may be highlighted for specific life stages. Some of these nutrients are Calcium, Vitamin D, Potassium and more!
To find out more, read this month's Nutrition Corner article and visit Nutrition Services for a full menu of nutrition services!
