Policy Debate Topic Selection Meeting:
5 Topics Remain for 2022-23


Forty-seven delegates from 19 states and 4 national organizations attended the NFHS Policy Debate Topic Selection Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from August 6-8. Ten topic reports were presented by authors who, for the past eight months, researched each topic area.

The first ballot with these 5 topics will be sent out to states on August 19th.

Return to Music: Phase III
Beginning the 2021 School Year 

The NFHS and NAfME have launched Phase III the Return to Music Project. This section features everything involved with starting the 2021 School Year in person: Risk Mitigation Strategies, Face-to-Face Instruction, Recruitment, Advocacy, Copyright & more!

Performing Arts Conference:

The annual conference draws state activities association staff, festival and contest managers, state music and speech associations, and fine arts/performing arts coordinators and educators. The conference provides a unique opportunity for individuals from across the nation to share information and best practices for managing activities. The two groups overlap on Tuesday to allow for collaboration between the two groups and facilitate discussion on topics of common interest. This conference is a great professional development opportunity for your performing arts staff.

Policy Debate Quarterly

NFHS Learn Course: Band Safety
& Heat Illness Prevention (FREE)

With Marching Band in full swing in the heat of the Summer, these courses are important reminders to help protect students. Heat Illness Prevention helps you minimize the risk of heat illness at your school and stop the leading cause of preventable death in high school activities, Exertional Heat Stroke. The Band Safety Course addresses heat and other weather concerns, the value of hydration, rest and sleep, hearing protection, and other safety considerations.
