This Sunday, we’ll be taking a look at the “The Lord’s Prayer,” or the “Our Father” that we pray together each week during worship. I learned this prayer as a child, but wasn’t part of a church that prayed it together until I joined the team at The Well, UMC in Rosemount, MN last fall. I came to love hearing the people around me praying these familiar words together!
When I arrived at Main Street in July, I was pleased to learn that praying this prayer together was part of our weekly worship service. I’ve enjoyed studying where this prayer came from and how it can be used as a guide for all our prayers. If you have a chance, read through Matthew’s words about the time Jesus shared this prayer with His disciples. It’s found in Matthew 6:5-15 (NIV).
If you’re free for any Tuesday in August, pack a lunch and join me in the Fellowship Hall (lower level) from 11:30 - 12:30. We’ve been having fun learning more about each other as we eat together.
I look forward to worshiping with you this week- either in person on Sunday at 10 am or on-line, as we continue our journey of loving God and loving people.
A Memorial Service for Don Swanson will be held on Friday, August 20th.Visitation will take place from 12-2 pm with a service at 2 pm and a dessert reception afterwards, in the Great Hall.
