Looks like a good place for an open water swim
Hi Fellow Athlete,

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Ironman had added a race in Alaska.

It seems like an unlikely location - it's not very accessible by most, is expensive, and is not exactly famous for its swim.

But I've been there in the summer and would say the summer climate would be an ideal one to race in. Of course, you'll need a wetsuit, but it's cooler rides and runs like this that I would welcome.

And the scenery and landscape are just amazing.

Definitely a race to consider, especially if you're already in North America.

TOD Heart Attack.

I had just been thinking I hadn't heard much about Tim O'Donnell recently, and then friend and subscriber Ming Wei sent a link about Tim having had a heart attack.

Turns out, he had the heart attack while pushing 300+ watts during Challenge Miami.

Watch this emotional account from the 40 year-old father.
Despite a heart attack during the race, Tim still finished 11th.

Stay on pace.

I used to hate having to add up times in my head, so I built a pace calculator.

It lets you sum up your swim, bike, run, and transitions, in metric or freedom-units.

Choose the race distance, then adjust the sliders or type in your paces, speeds, or times into the text boxes.

And if you have an odd or unusual race distance, you can edit those manually, too.

The final time will appear at the bottom.
If you want to be able to save the time you just calculated, you can do so in the IronHacks app.

Email me if you need a promo code for the app.
