DMPonline - supporting institutional log-in

We have been in touch with our subscribed clients few months ago, asking you to provide testing institutional log-in accounts. In this blog post we explain what the institutional log-in is on our website, how this can be installed for your organisation if you have not done so yet and reasons why we ask you to provide test or guest accounts.

It is much higher chance that one of our colleagues will be able to pick this up and your email will not be missed in a personal mailbox. Brexit and data protection agreement – no further agreements are needed

We have been in touch with all clients via emails who have been affected by this change. But we wanted to share this more widely that with pleasure we can now announce that the EU has officially deemed the UK ‘adequate’ for transfers of data from the EEA. This means personal data can be sent from the EEA to the UK without any additional safeguards (such as the model clauses) being in place, meaning no additional steps are required for data to be legally transferred from the EEA to the UK.

For transfers from the UK, the UK Government recognises EU Commission adequacy decisions made before the end of the Brexit transition period. This allows restricted transfers to continue to be made from the UK to most organisations, countries, territories or sectors covered by an EU adequacy decision. The UK has already recognised all EU and EEA Member States as ‘adequate’ for transfers from the UK.

DMPonline team updates for the past month

This summer has been very busy for us. We managed to run DMPonline survey around events and plan the events ahead for 2021/2022. We have also started to review our static pages and we will share more exciting news with you once we have these ready for launch. Our colleagues have pushed the latest v 3.0.3 release while we also tried to make sure that all of us get some well-deserved time off. We are getting some help from a colleague that used to work with us in the past – John Pinto from the EDINA team and we will be advertising soon for two junior software developer posts to grow the team! We have also officially put together quotes for 2021/2022 and reviewed the static pages.

Short summary from the June drop-in session

In June's drop in session we were joined by Shauna Ní Fhlaithearta from the Wageningen University who explained to us that Wagenigen University is a specialised life sciences university – focussing on society, food and environment . What makes WUR unique is that it is combination of two separate organisations, Wagenigen University and around 10 research institutes and their  RDM service sits across all of that giving support to all researchers. To find out more about how they collaborate with the various research groups and about the challenges this special structure brings, listen to our June recording.

NWO - Dutch Research Council subscription to DMPonline

This month we are featuring a blog post written by Maria Cruz from the Dutch Research Council (NWO).

Two years ago, at the request of the data stewards from some of the Dutch university libraries, the Dutch Research Council (NWO) added its DMP template to DMPonline. Two years later, we found ourselves proudly signing up a contract with the Digital Curation Centre for delivering DMPonline for NWO in the next three years. What took us down this path and what will DMPonline do for us.
