Additional COVID-19 Business Support Grant


Applications for the COVID-19 Additional Business Support Grant are now open. To be eligible for the grant, businesses must meet the criteria listed below as at the start of the restriction period of 12:01am Wednesday, 28 July 2021:
  • Be located within South Australia
  • Have a valid and active ABN and be registered for GST
  • Have an Australia-wide payroll of less than $10 million in the 2019-20 financial year
  • Operate in an eligible industry sector identified in the list of eligible ANZSIC classes
  • Must have experienced at least a 30 per cent reduction in turnover due to the restricted trading conditions over the two weeks from 28 July 2021 (the commencement date of the trading restriction) to 10 August 2021 compared to average fortnightly turnover in the June quarter 2021 (prior to restrictions)
  • There is no minimum turnover test for the COVID-19 Additional Business Support Grant, but a business must be registered for GST
  • Applications will close at 11:59pm on 17 October 2021

2021-22 Regional Event Fund Success for Limestone Coast

Regional South Australia will welcome more events more often, with nearly 40 regional events today receiving a financial boost to help them attract more visitors and support more regional jobs.

Round one of the South Australian Tourism Commission’s Regional Event Fund will support 37 regional events – including 16 events receiving support through the Fund for the first time, and eight which are entirely new events to SA.

Congratulations to the successful local events:

  • Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations, 1 – 31 Oct 2021
  • Generations in Jazz, 6 – 8 May 2022
  • Pines Enduro, 15 – 17 Oct 2022
  • Crayfish Festival *New event, 4 – 6 Mar 2022
  • Fantasy Medieval Festival *New event, 23 & 24 Apr 2022
  • National Historic Road Race Championships *Newly supported event, 29 – 31 Oct 2021

SA Moves to Low Restrictions

From Thursday, August 12: Level 1 restrictions

  • 3 people per 4 square metres (3/4) density for seated activities
  • Must take reasonable steps to maintain 1.5 m physical distancing
  • Contact tracing required (other than in-home health services)
  • Retail requires an approved contact tracing system
  • Where food and beverages are being served:
    • No communal food or beverage areas are permitted

Additional restrictions

  • 1 person per 2 square metres (1/2) density for non-seated activities
  • 1 person per 4 square metres (1/4) density for indoor fitness facilities
  • Seated food and beverage consumption only
  • COVID Management Plans required for events of more than 1,000 people
  • Shisha ban
  • All private gatherings outside the home will be capped at 50 people (home gatherings remain capped at 10)

Masks (covering the mouth and nose) are required in:

  • High risk settings
  • Personal care services (except for the person receiving the service, if necessary for the provision of the health care service)
  • Health care services (except for the person receiving the service, if necessary for the provision of the health care service)
  • Passenger transport services
  • Indoor fitness facilities (except while exercising)
  • Shared indoor public places (except bridal parties during ceremonies)

Organic Waste Disposal Trial at Robe


Robe District Council has secured funding to pilot a new thermophilic composting machine next month, in an effort to improve community waste streams and reduce landfill transport costs. Funding for the project was secured through Green Industries South Australia with Enpro Envirotech commissioned to design the solution, supply the equipment, and provide technical assistance. Free, updated, downloadable business planning templates are now available through the business.gov.au website. These include a business plan, marketing plan, succession plan, emergency management plan and finance templates. These planning templates will help you start your business and help you adapt as your business grows or changes. Find out more here.

Changes for Takeaway Alcohol


The ATO has made some changes for businesses that sell takeaway alcohol. The ATO recognises the difficulties many businesses in the alcohol service industry are facing due to COVID-19 restrictions. To support affected businesses, from 29 July to 31 October 2021 alcohol service venues facing COVID-19 restrictions can repackage duty-paid kegged beer for takeaway sale in sealed containers (such as growlers). Find out more here

Uni SA Offers Fully-Funded Engineering Courses for SMEs


Small to medium enterprises (SMEs) can boost their engineering capability with zero course fees through the University of South Australia.

SME's can now enrol their employees into a fully-funded place in an Associate Degree in Engineering. The two-year course is 100 per cent online and places are limited. The course starts in late September. Applications close on 6 September 2021.

South Australia’s Road Safety Strategy to 2031


The Department for Infrastructure and Transport, on behalf of the South Australian Government, has developed a draft South Australia’s Road Safety Strategy to 2031. Developed with input from communities, stakeholders and road users across the State, the draft Strategy contains principles that underpin road safety decision making and nine strategic priorities that are the focus areas for the Strategy.

Every person in South Australia is a road user. Whether you drive, ride, are a pedestrian or a passenger, this is your opportunity to provide feedback on the draft Strategy to guide South Australia’s focus for the next decade. CSIRO Kick-Start Program


This program aims to help Australian start-ups and small SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) access funding to undertake research, development, or testing activities with CSIRO. The program provides facilitation and matched funding services to eligible SMEs with a turnover or expenditure of up to $100 million.
 
SME Connect’s Kick-Start SME Connect team, will assist in:
  • Connecting the business to the best CSIRO research expertise, utilising the national CSIRO network of facilitators and contacts
  • Expediting the application process and helping with project design, if required, to ensure the project meets customer needs and expectations
  • Maintaining end-to-end engagement – remaining in communication with both researchers and businesses during the course of, and after completion of, the project
Vouchers between $10,000 and $50,000 are available on a dollar-for-dollar matched funding basis. Find out more here.

Future Drought Funds Drought Resilience Innovation Grants


Expressions of Interest are now open for the Future Drought Fund’s Drought Resilience Innovation Grants. These grants will support innovative projects that equip farmers and agricultural-dependent communities and businesses with the tools and capacity to adapt, reorganise, transition and/or transform in preparation for drought conditions such as changing temperature, increasing variability and scarcity of rainfall, and changed seasonality of rainfall.

The grant process will be run in 2 stages: an initial EOI, followed by a targeted competitive round for shortlisted EOI applications. EOI’s are due 8 September 2021.
 
There are 3 grants on offer:
  • an Ideas grant providing $50,000 for 1 year
  • a Proof-of-Concept grant providing up to $120,000 for 1 year
  • an Innovation grant providing $300,000 to $1.1 million per year for up to 3 years
The total funding available for this grant round is $37.6 million (GST inclusive) to support innovation projects that address the grants guidelines. The grants are available for projects that focus on development, extension, adoption and some commercialisation activities. Find out more here.

Senior Station Hand


Woakwine Station are a family owned and operated, large-scale livestock business. Cattle trading is their core enterprise, utilising rotational cell grazing systems and regenerative agriculture practices. 

An exciting opportunity exists for a reliable, hands-on person to join their team as Senior Station Hand. You will need demonstrated cattle and machinery knowledge and will report to the Operations Manager on a daily basis. 

Responsibilities:
  • Livestock health, stock movements, irrigation, haymaking
  • Maintain records and report to Manager
  • Maintenance of fencing and yards
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery
  • 'Low-stress management' of stock
  • Adhere to OHSW policies and procedures
  • Effective working relationships with team members
  • Maintain and upgrade personal Professional Training and Development
Punctual and organised, excellent communication skills and a positive attitude are essential attributes to make a success of this role.
