Secret Season Safari? Yes!

Green. Secret. Emerald. Low. Whatever you want to call it, there is a reason that the green season is a safari aficionado's best keep secret! This time of year offers so much to so many guests. From December through to April expect dramatic skies with short thundershowers that leave clear beautiful skies. The rain makes the surrounding bush a verdant green which teams with migratory birds. You will also find baby animals and new life all around you. This time of year provides contrasts that photographers love to capture and travellers return year after year for. Plus - a dramatic decrease in costs, no single supplements and special offers are often available!

Where to go in the Green Season? Southern Africa is where the green season shines. Zambia's South Luangwa National Park offers a truly remote wilderness experience in the Emerald Season. The Luangwa River bursts its banks, flooding lagoons and ebony groves and creating a vast flood plain. You will move through the area by boat and have a dramatic and rewarding safari. The leopards in the above photo were taken in the Emerald Season of South Luangwa.

Botswana's Nxai Pan & Boteti River area sees the second biggest migration in Africa - Zebra's - migrate from the Chobe River to Nxai Pan as the dusty plains are transformed to lush grass with waterholes all around. The Okavango Delta teams with migratory birds and turns lush green with abundant predators to be found.

Victoria Falls is at its highest levels from March, with a defining roar and soaking spray. Hwange National Park turns green attracting grazers which in turn attracts the predators as well as huge herds of elephants.
