Important Covid Information Update
We are starting day 5 of the school year and it seems only fair to address the fluid situation that the global pandemic of Covid-19 continues to put us in.

While our teachers, staff, and admin team were ecstatic to see our students return, we have equally experienced how quickly positive cases are being reported and the questions that follow with the impact they leave.

Please take a moment to review the details below. Our hope is to not only provide this as informational purposes, but to simultaneously ask for our families' continued trust, patience, and partnership that helped form the choice to enroll your student as part of our Bolts family. We are in this together and appreciate your support and understanding during such a challenging time.

What type of protocols is LP following?
- Families can find our protocols on our website through our Covid-19 Hub. Please note: while many are similar to HCPS district, LP is following the Department of Health's directives and guidance for health, wellness, and quarantine process as necessary.

How are decisions made for quarantine? Are those wearing masks or not masked factored into the decision?
- There are multiple steps in each case that requires numerous factors and contact tracing. All of these are shared with DOH, and then they guide our next steps. **Please know that so many layering steps are involved with this formula of data gathering including but not limited to: student attendance, onset of symptoms, notification, verification, student schedule, seating chart review, and more. We want to assure you that our team is working as quickly and as efficiently as possible to provide factual notifications while protecting student, parent, and/or staff confidentiality.

My child(ren) are quarantined, can they eLearn?
-As shared in our opening plan, we are returning to all in person learning. Our teachers are committed to providing schoolwork to students who are quarantined at home. While this may include some online formats at times, eLearning as it was in the 2020-21 school year is not offered at this current time per the FLDOE.

My child falls into the category of not being required to quarantine based on LP protocols; can I ignore the notification from the school?
- Please notify the school through administration@lutzprep.org if you believe your student meets eligibility to not quarantine. The school will contact you for items needed for verification purposes and date your student can return.

What if I find out information about a positive case within my family and it's outside of school hours or during the weekend?
- Due to balancing and addressing the day-to-day needs of students and staff on campus alongside the notifications submitted for Covid-19 cases, our school nurse and admin team are working outside of typical school hours. Acknowledging the need for staff's own physical and mental health to be able to assist our Bolts community, our team will review Covid-19 response submissions from 7am until 5pm during the school week. While a brief call or email will typically occur same day, responses or further details will be provided the following day school is in session. Thank you for your understanding.

What if you hear information about a positive case of Covid-19 from another LP parent but before hearing directly from the school – what should you do?
- Due to several steps mentioned above in the quarantine decisions and guidance provided by the Department of Health, you may or may not be directed to quarantine your child. In the event you hear from outside sources other than an official notification from the school, you have the choice as a parent to keep your child home as a precaution until further communications have been sent. If you wish to do so, please submit attendance link to notify the school of your child’s absence and reason and the school will follow-up with you. While this may be inconvenient at times, please know the school is working on each case with attention and care in the order as they are received.

COVID Hub and Other Important Information
Please visit our school website, www.lutzprep.org, for key information related to the health and safetly of our students and staff to include emergency and executive orders by the FLDOE and the State of Florida.  Lutz Preparatory School's COVID Hub is located in a pop up box on our homepage.

How to Report Your Child Absent
Due to the pandemic, we are required to track every absence. Our policy is to have all absenses (related to health or other reasons) reporting to our school via the online attendance tool located on our website or click on the image to the right.  Any supporting documentation related to the absence (doctor's notes, etc.) should be emailed to attendance@lutzprep.org.

Reporting a COVID Diagnosis
If your child tests positive for COVID-19 we are requesting that parents immediately report this to the school via the COVID-19 Reporting Form on our website (even overnight and/or weekends). This will allow our step-by-step mitigation process to begin with contact tracing and notification to all students/staff that may have been potentially exposed.  Thank you for your partnership in helping us keep all of our students and staff healthy.
Member of Student's Household Tests Positive for COVID?
If a member of the student's household tests positive for COVID-19 please keep your student home from school for quarantine and contact administration@lutzprep.org.  Nurse Kopp will reach out with details on when the student can return to school; teacher will reach out with details on quarantine learning environment.

Girls Volleyball
Unfortunately, due to the current COVID levels in the community, we are only offering outdoor sports at this time.  We plan on trying to get some other schools on board with playing later in the year, though.  So, an actual volleyball season is still a possibility just not at this time.

Coed Cross Country (5th-8th Grade)
