Dear Community Member,

Fund5 is officially behind us, we have welcomed Fund6 now.

It feels like Fund1 was just yesterday - but in fact it was one year anniversary this past Wednesday. Take a moment to appreciate how far you have come as a community already.

If you are extremely short on time - make sure to check out our brand new Launch Guide for Fund6 (open here). An executive document to share with your friends, colleagues and the world about what's happening! If you do have time - stay with me for a moment and let's dive into what's the latest. There'a lot of happening.

Voter registration for Fund6 is now open!

The idea is - you register in your chosen wallet where available and then vote later on via Catalyst App (separate medium). Voting will begin on in October. Until then you absolutely MUST secure/save your QR and PIN codes. You will need them both once voting begins in order to log into the app and cast your votes. Or in case your app needs re-install/update. If you don't save these - you won't be able to vote.

NOTE: If you registered in Fund4 and/or Fund5 + were able to cast votes - your registration will automatically be valid for Fund6 voting round! Only your voting power will update with the new snapshot time. Provided you have saved your QR and PIN code - don't need to re-register & have no immediate steps required of you. This does not apply to Fund2 or Fund3 registrations.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 500 ada in your wallet at the time of snapshot
    • You can move your funds afterwards if need be
    • Staking is not affected with the voting process
    • If your Voting Power says 'zero' - that's expected and all right
  • Registration fee ±0.17 ada
  • Deadline: September 30, 2021 @11:00 UTC
  • Save both - your QR code & PIN code - you will need them when voting begins to be able to cast your votes!

What is the timeline like for Voters?

  • August 12, 2021 @ 11:00 UTC - REGISTRATION START <---- we are here!
  • September 30, 2021 @ 10:59 UTC - REGISTRATION END
  • September 30, 2021 @ 11:00 UTC - SNAPSHOT

So what is happening this week on Ideascale then?!

The innovation phase of Fund6 has begun. You can now submit your insights into Ideascale and start collaborating with the community. This is the time to share perspectives, offer insights about challenges and your understanding of them. This week is NOT about your proposal submission and particular solution.

It only starts next week on Thursday, August 19th. What is the timeline like?

What are the "insights"?

By sharing and reading other people’s perspectives, we will find better solutions. In fact, research shows that sharing perspectives before sharing solutions can increase the review score of the final proposals by 26%. (See this town hall segment about reasoning behind it and goals)

Your perspective can be shared with the community by logging into Ideascale. Press the “Share Insight” button and post into the relevant Fund6 challenge campaign.

Your post can be about the following things:

  • Identify gaps - What gaps exist in how this challenge is currently addressed?
Example: We have a gap where there aren't enough community members monitoring stack overflow. Quick answers will lead to good dev experience.

  • Challenge improvement - Is there a way to make this challenge better? More engaging, measure outcomes more accurately, we want to hear your perspective.

  • Share an anecdote about the problem area: Your own experience onboarding to Cardano, or issues you saw other’s encounter.
Example: When I first joined Cardano, I had no idea how to integrate my payment solution with the technology, submitted a support ticket, but it never received an answer.

  • Share wild thoughts Inspiring, visionary, and hypothetical thoughts.
Example: Decentralized innovation funds can be the new ICO, instead of asking for funds, we ask for labor and ideas to jumpstart a token.

In case you've missed it, we've recently announced Fund5 winners. With all the funds combined, Catalyst has provided a funding opportunity for more than 150 unique projects now.
