Fall Conference 2021

It is that time of the year, the DAV MN Fall Conference is fast approaching. I hope you all already have these dates blocked on your calendar, but if you don't, please do so. This year the Fall Conference is being held at Arrowwood Resort and Conference in Alexandria

On Thursday, Sept 23, there is going to be CSO/DSO training and retraining conducted (see tentative schedule for times). Training to start at 9am, if you are attending, you MUST send back the completed CSO Form to HQ's, the CSO registration form (Nomination form).

Thursday evening the Department Executive Committee and the DAV MN Foundation will hold committee meetings.

This year's fall conference is going to be solely focused on training. We have set up training topics for all day Friday to help the DAV MN members. The DAV MN Leadership hopes that each Chapter will try and send their Commander, Adjutant, Treasurer, and BPTL. The training topics will be focused on topics that will help each of these positions.
- Membership system, access to forms on DAV website, etc
- Annual Financial Reporting, recording of transactions, filing reports with State and Federal
- Benefits Protection information, legislation agenda for 2022, CAN, etc.

This year's banquet will be called "DAV and DAV Auxiliary Testimonial Dinner". Each Commander will be given an update on what has happened so far this year and what some of the goals/objectives will be to close out the year.

Also, after the testimonial dinner, there will be a "parade of donors" for the Foundation. This will allow Chapters to come forward and give donations to support the Foundation and the "giving arm" to other veteran services they support.

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, the 9/11 Global War on Terrorism Task Force, and the Minnesota Military Museum will mark the 20th anniversary of 9/11 this September with an event on the Minnesota State Capitol grounds. The official “9/11 Day of Remembrance” is scheduled in-person for Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021. In addition to memorializing the events of that day and honoring those impacted, this event is focused on bringing the community together through a message of hope, unity and resilience.

Attention Chapter Leaders

In an effort to streamline report processing at DAV National Headquarters, we are transitioning from the hardcopy Annual Finance Report (AFR) & Officer Election Report (OER) Kit to a digital kit. Effective immediately, the hardcopy AFR & OER kits will no longer be available and only digital submissions of the AFR & OERs will be accepted.

The new digital OER Kit are available on our website at www.dav.org by navigating to: Membership → Members Only → Login with Membership Number → Quick Links → Elected Officer Resources →  Annual Financial Report/Officer Election Report Kit. Departments & chapters will then begin submitting AFR $ OERs digitally (pdf preferred) via email OfficerReportInfo@dav.org & Admin@davmn.org

We do understand that some may not have the proper equipment necessary to submit forms digitally, but most libraries and office supply stores do have equipment and resources available for such purposes. Departments are asked to assist chapters with digital submissions, as well, should they need it.

Thank you for your cooperation with this matter. Should you have any questions concerning this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me.
