A LITTLE BACKGROUND

About 3 1/2 years ago, I started developing MOTLOT More of This, Less of That, designed for women (and men!) who want to find ways to simplify the information out there about what to eat and what not to eat. The amount of information is overwhelming and can be confusing as well as contradictory. I wanted to help people learn to make good decisions based on solid, scientific information. Moving away from rollercoaster dieting and fad food plans which are not sustainable in the long term and can actually be harmful to one's health and toward making the connection between what you eat and and how to you live to how you feel. A core believe of mine is that food has the power to improve the quality of health...and the quality of health has everything to do with the quality of live.

 Topics about food choices, the role of vitamins and minerals, foods with the highest value nutrients, and foods that can reduce the risk of chronic disease are some of what you will find in each edition. Discussions about strategies for healthy living are included too, as I do believe a holistic approach to eating and living is the key to success in overall wellness. And many editions include a mustard colored Expert Resource box where you'll find links to expert opinions and educational resources so you can learn more.

WHAT IS THE MOTLOT PHILOSOPHY?

The emphasis is on eating and living in healthy ways: ...like making your meals vegetable centric, choosing nutrient dense foods, focusing on the value of each food not the calories, being aware that deprivation is not a long term strategy for healthy living, understanding the ability of food to nourish and heal, or harm, understanding the benefit of movement, any kind of movement as a daily activity, getting a little extra sleep, and doing things that make your soul happy too. It is meant to help raise your own personal awareness of what you need to do to be..."healthy-er".

"Healthy-er” is MOTLOT's way of taking your healthy up a notch. It's an acknowledgement that an individualistic approach will lead to individual success.

MOTLOT regular editions are published every other Sunday with specific health topics; the Friday Fave editions are published every other -well I bet you can guess! Friday! "Meet Me in the MOTLOT Kitchen" is published every other Tuesday, with dinner recipes that I have made the previous week. Newest to the line up is "Quick Tips for Healthy Eating" which will find its place in the editorial calendar! Occasionally I will write a special edition, and don't worry, as a MOTLOT-er you will receive them all!
