Spotlight on: Walking Wonders
We support a comprehensive range of walkers, with most models available for trials. Here’s a quick review of some of the options – and some tips when considering a walker for your child.
Posterior walkers allow children to engage more freely with their surroundings, encouraging independence in a range of activities. The Grillo Gait Trainer is designed to help children develop their step pattern, train their pelvis and keep their trunk balanced. It also helps organise a wider structured vision of space of distance in all surroundings. The Buddy Roamer is another innovative posterior walker, which is completely open at the front, allowing children to explore freely. The Flux walker is an extremely versatile and reliable walking frame – providing height, vertical and horizontal adjustments, and a great colour range too! Also available are the Nimbo, Pluto and Malte walkers, which encourage a natural, upright posture when standing and walking.
We also stock a few options in anterior walkers, including the bright and colourful Fox & Fixi, Walk On, as well as the Marcy walker. The Meywalk 4 is another anterior walker, which features spring suspension and a built-in swing bar that lowers and raises the seat and trunk support when entering or exiting the walker.
When considering a walker for your child, it’s important for us to assess your child’s ability and whether light to moderate support is needed. We will also talk with you to understand how and where the walker will be used, as different models may be best suited to the terrain or environment of choice.
