'Proud in Culture, Strong in Spirit'

Today communities across Australia and the Uniting Church are celebrating National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day.

To mark the day, the National Safe Church Unit of the Uniting Church has shared a special version of its Child Safe Principles poster.

Poster artist and Palawa woman Grace Williams said, “This artwork represents how important it is to raise our children strong in culture, wisdom, knowledge and education. Let's all have a role in keeping our children safe and strong.”

A church for all generations

Imagine a community where people of all ages participate in all aspects of church life. A church where everyone is welcome, regardless of age, ability, or stage of faith.
This week we begin looking at the final of four key strategic themes for the Assembly - Intergenerational. Rev Charisa Suli invites us into this space, painting a picture of what it means to welcome, equip and hold together all generations in our Church.

Yarning Circle Gathering 2021

In this video and reflection from the Synod of Queensland, Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC) members share about their life and ministry in the Uniting Church and how First Peoples are contributing to the growth and faith formation of all generations in the Uniting Church.

A practice of prayer

Members of the 16th Assembly shared together in a reflective practice of prayer guided by Rev Dr Sally Douglas. The Examen is a meditative discernment on the events of the day, making us alert to God's presence. Two videos used by Assembly members - a guided Examen and an explanation of the practice - are available for the whole church to use in your personal prayer and shared reflection.

Choose peace with justice: a liturgy for Hiroshima Day 2021

This week marks the 76th anniversary of the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. On Friday 6 August many across the world will observe Hiroshima Day, which has become both a day of remembrance and of action for nuclear disarmament. The Wellspring Community shares this liturgy for use in worship.
