Miles and Miles

When we left Asia on June 4th, we found the airport terminals (Bangkok and Tokyo) to be nearly empty. We anticipated this to be the case since there simply aren’t that many international flights scheduled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, after passing through the nearly empty customs and immigration area at Dallas, Texas, we were blown away by how many people we filling the airport terminal. It was busier than we we’ve ever seen it. Talk about a shock! Don't ask us about the emotional breakdown in the cereal isle on our first trip to Walmart. ;) Way too many choices!
Since landing we have spent about one month on “the road” and have logged many miles. Our boys travel so well that a six to ten hour ride in the van is just another day for them. We’ve been so thankful to visit with many friends and supporters and look forward to visiting many more. This first road trip has confirmed once again how much we are thankful for each of you and how your partnership makes our ministry possible!
We have enjoyed being back in the US for the past two months. The boys have been able to cross off some “bucket list” activities. But, at the same time, we all look forward to being able to return to Thailand late this year. However, Thailand is in the thick of battling the pandemic with increasing restrictions being put in place in attempt to mitigate the spread of the Delta variant. Like much of the majority world, Thailand has very few doses of any COVID-19 vaccine available compared to their population, which means that restrictions and limited social interaction will be the case for months to come. This reality makes work and ministry tough for our teammates in Thailand. Would you pray with us that our teammates are able to thrive in their work and ministry relationships despite the limitations resulting from the pandemic?

What are the Needhams up to?

We will be on the road again starting this weekend through September 6. We’ll primarily be be visiting Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania during this time, but we also have a few other stops. Please pray for safety as we travel and that the Lord continues to show His provision for our family.

Being on the Asia Leadership Team for Crossworld while on home assignment has been a challenge for Eric. Balancing ministry and leadership with family time and travel is the goal. One of the greatest challenges for the next few years will be innovating strategies for cross-cultural workers to enter countries in Asia. We will also strive to foster community among workers while travel is difficult or unworkable due to the current global environment.
(If you noticed that a Needham is missing from the photo above, you're right! This photo was taken while Owen was attending camp.)

Tyler's Visit
When people see Tyler with our family, they often ask if Tyler is one of our kids! He is like family to us, though. Tyler was Jake's aid at Grace International School for the past two years. He came to visit us before he starts a masters degree in a few weeks.
Family Time
One of the best things about being in the US is being able to visit family. Titus especially is getting to know his cousins for the first time and having a lot of fun!
Going to Camp
Both Jake and Owen had the opportunity to attend camp at Youth Haven in Lee County, Kentucky. They had a great time making friends in the same camp where Faith attended as a child.

Funding Needs

We still have significant fundraising to do. What are our needs? We are hoping to raise another $1,500 in monthly support in the next few months. Additionally, we need to raise about $5,000 in one-time gifts toward a vehicle for use in Thailand (we sold a compact car that our family could no longer fit in before we left Thailand in June - our kids are growing fast!). Finally, we are praying for partners for a special visa that will allow us to put our full-time effort into leadership for Crossworld.
Join our Team!
Prayer Needs:
  • Safety as we journey across many States
  • That we would be able to raise funds needed in the next few months
  • Wisdom for leadership in today's rapidly changing environment in Asia
  • That our teammates would have a vibrant relationship with the Father and see much fruit
Thank you for making this ministry possible!
