Dear Emmaus Chorale Singers,
First, a big ‘thank you’ to those of you who responded to our survey, which was sent (via email) to about 60 recent singers and (by ‘snail’ mail) to another 10 recent singers for whom we did not have email addresses. Of those 48 total who responded, 24 (half) indicated they are ready to resume now, but only one bass is ready.
As much as we would like to resume practicing and deliver a Christmas concert, this does not seem advisable. Many other choirs and choral groups are still ‘on hold.’ There is uncertainty about the delta and lambda variants of Covid19 and vaccine ‘breakthrough.’ A return to mask wearing indoors also may be on the horizon. And, it would be very challenging to recruit sufficient basses at this time.
I’m sure many of you are disappointed, as I am…another year without singing together at Christmas! But I also hope you all will understand the over-arching concern for everyone’s well-being and need for a balanced choir. We certainly hope conditions will be favorable for us to resume for our spring season. In the meantime, I am reminded of a tag line from Vacation Bible School ( many years ago!), “ Everyone Bring One!” YOU are the best recruiter for the Chorale…is there a singer you can invite to join us?

I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer and visit with family and friends. Stay well, keep in touch – we’ll try to have some Zoom sessions this fall – and we’ll all hope and pray for an even better 2022!
Warmest wishes,
Lynda
