Woods House Historic Pub Tour/Luncheon Sponsored by SHHS

On Saturday August 7th, the Squirrel Hill Historical Society offered a phenomenal tour of the recently renovated Woods House in Hazelwood. An article about the history of the House and pub menu are included. It is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for dinner service. We encourage you to make a reservation to go!

Background Information

Built in 1792, the John Woods House is considered one of the oldest remaining structures in Pittsburgh. The vernacular style stone house is believed to be built by Colonel George Woods, the surveyor who laid out the Golden Triangle in 1784. His son, John Woods (1758-1816), completed the drafting before finishing his law degree. Recognized for its historical and architectural importance, the Woods House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. This project will also contribute to the neighborhood's beautification and increased foot traffic for local businesses. The first version of this project (titled SUPER MEGA WONDER 1999) was successfully installed in Cleveland, Ohio in 2021.

If you haven't had a chance to fill out the survey, we welcome your response - Please fill out the survey to determine the best location in Squirrel Hill for the artwork.
