I’m in Japan with my family. It's an extended trip, and my wife and I are working most weeks. But our main job is to make memories for our family.
Sometime the special moments are adventures of some kind.
Walking in a river and finding a waterfall.
Hiking through a forest to the top of a mountain.
Crying at the Peace Museum in Hiroshima.
Swimming at a local beach in Miyajima.
Sometimes it’s simple pleasures. Riding a train together. Enjoying home cooked meals with our extended family. Listening to my kids’ speak Japanese with their cousins. Sitting in an onsen (the hot baths here) with my youngest son.
Most of all, making memories means paying attention to each other. And I'm learning how we can do that anywhere, any time.
I hope you have a wonderful August wherever you are, and that you and your family make your own special memories too.
Note: This blog will be on holiday for the month. Weekly posts will resume in September, when hundreds of new WOL Circles will begin at the same time at community.workingoutloud.com.
So many memories. I had a hard time choosing which photos to include!
