Grand Reopening of the Wall House

Save the date: September 26th, 2021. The Richard Wall House Museum will reopen to the public for the first time since the pandemic closed it in 2020. Prepare to attend an open house, which will feature a new local history gallery, named in honor of Jack Washington, the late Commission Chair. Increased audio visuals, interpretive signs and pamphlets, a new home for the doll house so more people can view it, and much much more await your history-starved eyes.

Upcoming Wall House Cleaning Day

On Saturday, August 7th, at 10 AM, the Historical Commission will have a Clean Up Day, until about 12:00. Please volunteer some time if you are available. We are focusing on cleaning the inside of the Wall House and getting it ready for the Grand Reopening.

Projects include:
  • General house cleaning and trash removal.
  • Sweeping out the kitchen, since squirrels dumped acorns down the chimney when we weren't looking.
  • Removing cobwebs and dust from window wells.
  • Cleaning floors and rugs.

While our focus will be indoors, if you are only an outside worker, you are welcome to prune back some of the non-herb garden plantings as you wish.

If you are interested in volunteering, show up at 10 AM in work clothes. Bring any supplies you like. If you have any questions, please contact historicalcommission@cheltenham-township.org.

Past Wall House Cleaning Day

Special thanks to Boy Scout Troop 22 and volunteer Jeannette Ullrich who came out for our last cleanup day. They fought a tough battle with the Iris Garden and won. The Historical Commission is deeply indebted to them.
