The Friends of Gorges are proud to welcome the Director of the NC Division of Parks and Recreation, Dwayne Patterson (pictured at left) on August 12 in the Rogow Room of the Transylvania County Library! His presentation will include updates on the NC Parks and Recreation Trust Fund or PARTF, the 5.8 million dollar Gorges State Park Family Campground, the entire state parks division and a discussion on how the division can and does support GSP. He is also expected to provide his vision specifically for GSP and on serving the community with programming.

The director will have a full day in Transylvania County including a visit to GSP and a tour of the all new Gorges Family Campground scheduled to open by the end of this year. He will be joined by NC Parks Deputy Director of Operations Kathy Capps as well as Director of Planning and Natural Resources Brian Strong. Locally, our new Gorges Superintendent, Kevin Bischof and our new FOG President, Steve Pagano will lead the tour.

In the early afternoon, the public is invited to join us in a meet + greet and to hear a presentation from Director Patterson on the current status of NC Parks and their effects on our region. Lite refreshments will be provided by the excellent Blue Ridge Bakery.
