Call for a Meeting of the Congregation

Sunday, August 8, at 11:30 AM

 
Session calls for a meeting of the Congregation for two purposes: (1) to elect elders, deacons and at large members of the Nominating Committee for the coming year; and (2) Approve a two-month sabbatical leave for Pastor Dale Flowers.
 
Immediately following our 10:30 a.m. worship, we will be invited to participate in this called meeting of our congregation, with fellowship on the lawn after.  Ten percent of our membership or a total of 46 members are needed to constitute a quorum.

Have you ever wanted to ring a handbell? Are you interested in joining the handbell choir? Come check out the bells and talk to some ringers on Sunday Aug. 8 and 29 on the lawn during the coffee hour (after each service). Hope to see you there. Family Pool Party

All Church Picnic

Family Ministries is hosting an All Church Picnic on the lawn with games.   We will provide the food, tables and chairs, and umbrellas. You may want to bring your own lawn chairs and/or blankets. 
 




Organ Tour & Hymn Sing

Come Sing your Favorite Hymns!
John, David, and members of the congregation offer a chance to sing your favorite hymns. as well as tour our magnificent pipe organ! 

Just what IS a Zimbelstern? How does the trumpet stop work? Are those strings I hear? We have the answers... In this presentation, you will also hear moving stories about hymnody and music ministry.  We hope you’ll join us and invite a friend!  RSVP:at this link.

Understanding Our Faith

Do you want to understand Christian theology a little better? Ever wrestle with understanding “the Trinity’? Or wish you had a quicker response when someone asks you why you believe in the Bible?   Join Pastor Emily this fall for  an overview of Christian theology for anyone who wishes to engage with the tenets of their faith on a deeper level. The topics we will cover include: understanding the doctrine of the Trinity, the importance of scripture in Christian life, the person and work of Jesus Christ, the mystery of sin and evil, and the nature of Christian hope. Sign-up here.

We will read from Faith Seeking Understanding: An Introduction to Christian Theology by Daniel Migliore. Books available for suggested donation ($15) in Room 113 on Sundays (see Allie Shoulders). Also available at online retailers.

The Summer’s lecture series of Christians talking about their passion and calling happens Sunday evenings from 7:00-8:30 PM in the Freeman Room (113):
 
Aug 15                Growing Up Chinese  (Gai Mou Sou)   Leonard Lew
Lew, who is 80, grew up in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Cameron House, the Chinatown social service center founded by Presbyterians in 1874, played an important part of his developing years. He is retired from a career teaching science. He will talk about the early history of Chinese in America, about Chinese in San Francisco, and about his own upbringing. He promises “thoughts on second chances and God’s grace.”
 
 

 
Wendy Taylor, former staff member, who serves as Temporary Pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Shoreline, Washington, has requested we pray for her son, Philip, who has been hospitalized and is in critical condition with COVID 19.  


 


Redwood Gospel Mission’s 2021 City Kids Festival

Saturday, August 7 at The Bridge Church, Fulton Road
 
Community Service Team members, Peter Murphy, delivered 160 spiral and 150 bound notebooks to Redwood Gospel Mission and Cesca Thompkins lined up volunteers to cover our church’s game booth.  Area churches provide everything needed for this event.  The Community Service Team thanks you for your participation and response to serving these students and their families.
