Educational Art Activities Planned at Former Governors' Mansion State Historic Site
BISMARCK, N.D. – Children of all ages are invited to learn more about North Dakota's art history in free interactive programs at the Former Governors' Mansion State Historic Site, 320 East Ave. B, Bismarck.
Chalk drawing is one of earliest recorded types of art and has been a favorite pastime of many children through the years. Drop in at "Chalk Art" on Aug. 10 between 1 and 4 p.m. to create art on the sidewalks around the Former Governors’ Mansion. Chalk will be provided. Cookies and lemonade will be served.
Stop by Aug. 17 between 1 and 3 p.m. for “Observational Drawing.” Walk the mansion grounds with site staff, and create observational drawings of the many garden flowers. Paper and colored pencils will be provided. Cookies and lemonade will be served.
The Former Governors’ Mansion is a state historic site managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. Summer hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday, noon-4 p.m. For more information about the Former Governors’ Mansion, contact 701.328.9528.
