Outreach Program Coordinator

 

The Northwest Fire Science Consortium is seeking an Outreach Program Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position based in the Department of Forest Ecosystems & Society at Oregon State University's College of Forestry.

The coordinator will support the leaders of the Consortium with innovative and policy-relevant educational program development, facilitation, and evaluation; problem-solving and science delivery; science communication related to wildland fire topics; synthesis of academic literature and development of written products (including research briefs, syntheses, and other core publications); coordination of the advisory committee and management team; website development and maintenance; social media outreach; and preparation of reports summarizing accomplishments to the Joint Fire Science Program. 

In addition, the incumbent will build relationships to better understand the needs of diverse partners and audiences, and strengthen the impact and relevance of the Consortium’s work. This may include networking with internal and external stakeholders (i.e., state and federal agency partners, academia, research scientists, NGOs, Tribal nations, natural resource managers and practitioners, policymakers, etc.), working at the science-policy interface, building connections between research and management communities, as well as partnering with other regional fire science exchanges on product development and program delivery as appropriate.
