Notices

REMINDER: Next week Wednesday, 11 August, will be an online learning day for pupils. Staff will be attending a full day training workshop. Parent-Teacher meetings will take place on Thursday, 12 August.
A separate letter will be sent out to parents today regarding these matters. 

Subject Changes:

Grade 10 parents and pupils need to discuss any subject changes as soon as possible as the closing date is Monday, 23 August. In order for pupils to change their subject, they need to speak to Ms Bell before this date. 


ID Documents:

A reminder that Grade 11 pupils need to be in possession of an ID card/book before the end of the year to be enrolled for the final matric examinations in 2022. Please visit the Department of Home Affairs as soon as possible. 


Uniform:

We are very proud of our uniform. Please ensure that pupils don’t come to school with ripped or laddered stockings. Skirts should also be no shorter than 10cm above the knee. Click here to see the full set of uniform regulations. If your child has an excuse for wearing the incorrect uniform, please contact the form teacher as soon as possible. 


Channels of Communication:

Should you have any queries, please contact your child’s form teacher. We do, however, request that you ask your child to first contact the relevant teacher before you, as parent, become involved. Alternatively, please have a look on the school’s website or the parental portal for any information. You can also find all the school’s policies and procedures here


Term 2 Reports:

A reminder that the Term 2 reports will be published to the portal tomorrow (Friday, 6 August). Please contact info@rghs.org.za if you need any assistance in logging on to the Parent Portal.

Learners not returning in 2022


At the end of this term we will be sorting through our applications for Grades 9 to 11 and finalising our acceptances for next year.  In order to assess whether we have any places to offer to these applicants, we kindly request that you inform us, in writing by Thursday 30 September 2021, if your daughter will NOT be returning to Rustenburg next year.  Please send your notice to: admissions@rghs.org.za

Please remember that you need to give the required term’s notice or you may be liable for a full term’s fees.

Mandela Day Food Parcels 

On Friday 30 July, we packed 60 food parcels that will be distributed through Gift of the Givers. Well done to all the learners who represented their grades and thank you to all families and staff who contributed.

Sport Update 5 August 2021

Finally some good news for our sports teams - fixtures are allowed to resume, albeit without spectators. We are excited that Rhenish Girls’ High School will host us to a Sports Derby on 13 and 14 August.  All Netball and Hockey teams as well as two Football teams will be playing matches. Please do diarise these dates. We will be requesting that parents provide lifts to our players.

LO Matters

  • Women in ICT Free Virtual Seminar 2021
    Annually during the month of August, as part of celebrating women’s month, On The Ball College in partnership with On The Ball Foundation, hosts a Women in ICT Seminar to address the skills gap and assist females to adapt to the 4th Industrial Revolution through education, and promotion of IT training and development. The event is an open community where young females and industry experts come together to share their ideas, present opportunities, and partner for growth and advancement. The Women in ICT seminar will take place on 28 August 2021 virtually with the theme being #ChoosetoChallenge. The Seminar includes a great lineup of speakers, insightful panel disussions and amazing prize giveaways.   • Masakhisizwe Bursary Programme for 2021-22
    Western Cape Government Transport and Public Works Masakhisizwe Bursary Programme for Grade 12 learners interested in studying towards a degree or diploma in the transport, engineering and built environment disciplines. The closing date for applications is 31 August 2021. Download the flyer and the application form.

COMING UP
Food Truck Friday, together with our Term 3 Dress-Up Day will take place on Friday, 27 August. The money raised for this civvies day will go towards our own support staff gift fund. More details will follow.

Rustenburg Brownies

The Tuckshop makes delicious regular, caramel and Bar One Brownies daily. The cost is R12 for regular and for caramel and Bar One brownies are R15. 

Orders for your next dinner party, children’s birthday or secret stash need to be made 48 hours in advance. There is a discount for bulk orders of 150 or more. Orders can be placed and paid for at the Tuckshop. Please email haylettm@rghs.org.za for orders.
