Hello Artists and Aficionados of All Art Forms.

Welcome to August already...whew!

We’re so happy to have you staying in touch and coming by the Gallery whether in-town or visiting from other areas.  It would be a good time to be purchasing some fabulous one-of-a-kind gifts for the holidays which you can find only at AGS right now!

There is some exciting news happening for both patrons and artists.

First:  Our current show regarding COVID-19. Information can be found in this newsletter. It’s bound to bring out powerful emotions, both for the creators and viewers. Don’t miss it!

Second:  In keeping with information for artists and artisans, the magazine “Our State” is asking for all work from local folk to make application for 2021 Made in NC Awards.  Submission deadline is August 16th. Check their website for more details.     https://www.ourstate.com/madeinnc/

Third:  Our neighbor, Hillman’s Brewery is holding a fantastic fundraiser for our Arrowhead Gallery!  What a great neighbor. Thanks to Brandi Hillman for offering to do this.  Here’s how it will work – for every pint of beer they sell on August 16th we will receive the profits! So artists and artisans after you put the final touches to your Our State entry, trundle over to Hillman’s in Old Fort to enjoy a delicious craft brew! Everyone else, please tell all your friends, relatives and communities about it too!
https://www.hillmanbeer.com/

I’d also like to welcome in two additional artists/artisans to A3L/AGS.

Karen Potter is a weaver of exquisite shawls, scarves and other lovely woven products.
Dr. Robert Gunther has created amazing quality bowls from multiple exotic woods. They beg to be caressed and admired and purchased for a price-point WELL below what you would find in Asheville. The same is true of Karen’s creations.

Please come by and view the new folks work and take a look at our “regular” exhibitors new work. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

As always, do stay in touch. We will still have masks, sanitizer, social distancing as our policy in the coming days as needed.

Best wishes, Liz Meyer

"Fibonacci Study in Blue and Orange" was selected to be in the Black Mountain Center for the Arts ART IN BLOOM gallery show.

FUN WITH WIRE!

with Lorelle Bacon

Saturday September 4th, 10 to 4

$135 (AGS members, $145 nonmembers) for beginners to wire-wrapping. Includes supplies, copper wire, use of tools and hand-outs.

$175 (AGS members, $185 nonmembers) for intermediates/advanced students who have had some experience with wire-wrapping. They will work with copper and silver wire as well as crystals.

Beginners will make a basic bracelet first as this is necessary for most wire wrapping techniques. You will learn how to make a bundle and proper wraps with this project. You will also make a 2nd bracelet with a different design. If time allows you may also make a pair of earrings.

Those with some experience or who have taken some of my beginner workshops will be making variations of the basic bracelet that will wow everyone who sees them! We will make two bracelets and as many pair of earrings as time allows. You will make a copper and silver bracelet and an all silver one with beads. This will prepare you for a pendant workshop that will be offered next, should you wish to take it.

Kits to take home will be available for purchase but you will have information of where to order supplies for your at home projects too!
