Get practical feedback on your syllabi
before the start of classes
A syllabus represents a course’s goals, a faculty member’s approaches to teaching and learning, as well as the class’s overall design and “experience.” Reading each other’s syllabi can help us be more intentional about our approaches to course design and teaching, as well as make visible much of the great teaching taking place at Denison University.
During this hands-on workshop, facilitated by Dr. Michael Reder of Connecticut College, participants will:
- briefly review some basic principles for effective course and syllabus design.
- break into small groups and read each other’s draft syllabi using a list of questions as a guide.
Each participant will have the opportunity to both give and receive practical feedback on a syllabus. Faculty members are asked to bring four copies of a draft syllabus for a course you are going to be teaching this coming semester, as well as copies of any major assignments. All of the work you do in this workshop will help you finalize your syllabus for next week when classes begin.
Space is limited. Please register with the link below by August 18.
