Interested in Leading the APAC Group?
You may have heard that CCI is launching a community group for the Asia Pacific region. Yes, we are!

As we start to draft the charter for the APAC group, we believe the best way is to involve our active members in the region and define together what should be the starting focus of this group. To organize this preliminary conversation with our APAC community and ensure the new group has a strong community leadership, we are calling for interested members in the region to raise your hand if you are interested in spearheading the community activities of the APAC group.

If you are interested, please reach out to Lucy Yang, our Community Director, by 12:00 pm PT on August 13. We look forward to hearing from you!

  • Membership Status: As of July 29, CCI has 23 Steering Members and 33 Contributors. If you are a member and want to share with us what you are working on and how we can help, schedule a call with Kaliya Young, our Ecosystems Director.
  • Steering Committee Member Election: The Steering Committee is working to have the election process in place and will announce it at the next all-member meeting on August 27 (calendar invite will follow soon).

Community Groups Updates

Use Case Implementation Workstream

During the Use Case Implementation Workstream call on August 3 (recording here), John Walker facilitated a discussion for feedback on his proposal for a new Rules Engine Task Force. The idea germinated from the need to house specifications and codebases for rules engine recommendations in the Good Health Pass (GHP) Interoperability Blueprint and implementations such as the Global COVID Certificate Network (GCCN) at Linux Foundation Public Health (LFPH). To mitigate the significant challenges with the potential size and scope of the task force's remit, John suggested starting with a "Discovery and Feasibility" effort to define a clear scope and minimal viable product (specification). The remit of the task force would also incorporate deliverables beyond GHP and GCCN.

Paul Knowles also gave a quick update on the work happening in the Schema Task Force, whose next working session is on August 9.

Our next call will be on August 10, where Lal Chandran will demonstrate iGrant.io's "Data for COVID" solution to convert COVID vaccination certificates to secure wallet-stored digital credentials ready for exchange.

Rules & Governance Workstream

The Rules and Governance Workstream introduced the decision to switch to a Governance Framework template at a recent all-member meeting of CCI. This idea and the subsequent set of initial plans have been received with enthusiasm. The workstream will be putting together a roster of expert speakers to cover some of the important topics and concepts which would be important for local and other governing authorities who wish to build their governance framework using this template.

The workstream is moving to a weekly output deliverable format with the bi-weekly meeting to continue as usual. In the upcoming meeting on August 10 at 8 am PT / 3 pm UTC, a draft copy of the template will be used to begin the work of seeking contributions and feedback towards this deliverable.

Vaccine Credentials Focus Group - US Subgroup

The Vaccine Credentials US Subgroup call on July 29 (recording here) had Steve Murchie, the CEO of Envision Technology Partners, share background information regarding Envision’s current discussion with New York’s Excelsior Pass initiative with respect to the planned interface of ‘out of state’ Envision customers providing QR encoded COVID immunization records to the Excelsior platform. The next call will be on August 12 at 11 am PT / 2 pm ET

Member News and Updates

  • The vaccine management solution from the Kokomo24/7® Safety Cloud™, also known as VaxTrax™, will be used by The University of Michigan to efficiently compile and manage all vaccine information belonging to the school. VaxTrax™ allows the university to register all students, staff, and faculty within the application where the school’s administration can send in-app and push notifications to remind all students and faculty to upload their proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Once the vaccine information has been supplied by a user, it can then be verified by the school and a digital vaccine card/passport will be displayed within the mobile app. To learn more about how the Kokomo24/7® Safety Cloud™ is helping universities and colleges manage their health and safety needs, visit https://www.kokomo247.com.

  • Trinsic has an upcoming webinar on Wednesday, August 18th titled: "Trinsic Core—Infrastructure for Digital Trust".
