How is the MetroWest Solar + Clean Heat Challenge going for you so far? Residents and small businesses in Ashland, Framingham, Holliston and Natick have submitted more than 300 requests to have their homes assessed for clean energy technology, and many have now received proposals for solutions.

If you need help reviewing a proposal or have questions you’d like to talk about, please don’t hesitate to request a volunteer’s help. Many of our volunteers have installed solar or heat pumps at their own homes and some have completed training specific to these technologies. They are eager to help!

Thank you for your participation in the program!

- Frank (Ashland), Jillian (Natick), Matt (Holliston) & Shawn (Framingham)

Upcoming Event: Solar 101

We are hosting a Zoom “Solar 101” with Ace Solar next Thursday, August 12. At the 101, Ace Solar and municipal staff will review program pricing and the nuts and bolts of adding solar to your roof.

The majority of the webinar will be reserved for Q&A, and we hope to see you there!

Register for Solar 101 on 8/12 @ 7PM

Additional events and opportunities to learn about clean energy are being planned for this fall. Check out the events section of our website to connect and see clean energy in action!

Monthly Tracker

Check out the program’s latest stats!

To-date, 13 solar and 16 air-source heat pump contracts have been signed. Woo hoo! Ground-source heat pumps have a few more steps involved before proposed contracts are issued, but we expect some will be finalized soon!

Remember to request a volunteer if you’d like reviewing your proposal.

If at least 200 kW of solar PV is contracted through the program, solar customers will unlock an additional discount! We are more than half way there!

Note: the MetroWest Solar + Clean Heat Challenge and its associated pricing discounts end in December.

Question of the week

Q: Why do I need to provide solar companies with a copy of my electric bill?

A: Just because you have a big roof, doesn’t mean you should cover it in panels. Professional solar companies should size solar arrays to match your current or future electricity needs. Kind of like Goldilocks. You want to make sure the system is sized just right.

Your electric bill is an important puzzle piece in this equation. Electric bills show 12 months of historical usage, and, by looking at your consumption history, a system can be designed and sized appropriately to meet the assumed future demand. Not more or less.

So - if you’re interested in going solar through the MetroWest Solar + Clean Heat Challenge, be sure to send Ace a copy of your most recent electric bill. It’s a must if you want to receive a proposal.
