Hello NDA families!
I hope that everyone is making very special memories with these last few weeks of the summer! As I shared last week, the NDA team has been working diligently to prepare for the start of our new school year. We have many decisions to make, schedules to create and materials to get ready as August 30th draws near.
We, of course, are watching the ever changing COVID reality as well. The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis has shared a PPRP template for all of the schools in their jurisdiction. We are customizing each part of the plan for our NDA community. We will be sharing our plan with our NDA faculty and staff first and the broader community following. Hopefully this plan will be shared with our community late next week. Be assured that as we prepare for the 2021-2022 school year, we are focused on our desire for students to learn and grow in a healthy and safe environment in which they will not only thrive but flourish.

Congratulations
NDA 3rd grader, CeCe W., was chosen as one of five winners nationwide for the Scholastics Storyworks 3’s Grizzlies contest from the March/April 2021 issue! They loved her informative and detailed news article regarding what caused the grizzlies attacking and how this changed national parks as a result. We are very proud of CeCe's work this spring! She is even listed on their website and received a $25 gift card.
Angels Unawares Sculpture
The Basilica of Saint Mary will be hosting a large bronze sculpture titled Angels Unawares on their outdoor front plaza during the month of August. It is a replica of the statue commissioned by the Vatican for St Peter's Square that is on tour in the United States before it's permanent installation at the Catholic University in Washington DC. The statue features 140 almost life-size sculptures of various migrants and refugees on a boat. The name comes from Hebrews 13:2, which tells us to "show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." People can visit the traveling sculpture outdoors at The Basilica anytime in August.

The office is accepting appointments for one family at a time to shop, please make your appointments now.
School Supplies
School supply lists can be found for K-8 on our Parent Resource Page. This year we will again ask all students to bring their own water bottles to school. We will unfortunately not be able to have the regular water fountains open, we will only offer the bottle fillers.
Spirit Wear Sale
Spirit wear from Big Athletics is now on sale until August 15th. On Fridays, K-8 students are invited to wear spirit wear instead of their uniform. Women's Weekend
We are looking forward to another great NDA Women’s Weekend on November 12, 13 & 14 - at Grandview Lodge.Women's Weekend is a longtime tradition that all the women here at NDA are invited to. This is an opportunity to meet other women, enjoy a weekend away, relax, and have some fun together! As it gets closer, we'll organize a potluck for Friday night, and then the time is really up to you! In years past women will go to a movie, Nisswa, Grandview Spa, long walks, hang-out at cabin, grab drinks and dinner.
Reserved this year is an 8 bedroom cabin + 4 bedroom cabin + 3 bedroom cabin. Most of the rooms have 2 beds, and we are looking for people to share a room as comfortable (not share a bed - own bed in shared room). If you're interested in your own bedroom we will look to accommodate (4 available in group cabins), but please note it may be in a different part of the resort.
Registration: This year you'll have to sign-up on our Registration form - Group reservation closes on October 15. Anything after we may not be able to guarantee being in a group cabin. They are not taking individual reservations any longer, and everything is reserved under Sheila Bothwell. Once committed and signed-up on the Registration form, and we have final headcount (Oct. 15), Sheila will request payment.
Cost will be ~$160-$200 per person - depending on the # of people that attend.
