“Pilots are a rare kind of human. They leave the ordinary surface of the world to purify their soul in sky, and they come down to the Earth only after receiving the communion of the infinite."
Jose Maria Velasco Ibarra

Tony's Weekend Weather

Unsettled weather is set to continue through the weekend, starting out with a showery southwest flow over the country on Saturday, then a low moving across central New Zealand on Sunday. There’ll be some reasonable weather in eastern areas (and Kāpiti, of course) on Saturday, but it’ll be quite windy. Sunday will be pretty horrible over the North Island, with strong winds and heavy, thundery showers, but improving conditions in parts of the South Island.

Saturday should be fine in Kāpiti, with westerlies around 15kts, possibly getting up to 20kts for a time in the afternoon. There could be a couple of hours of flying weather first thing Sunday and again late in the day, but it’s looking like a mostly wet day with a southerly change around midday.
Safety Message

This week we'll take a quick break from our Flight Radio series to discuss safety on the apron.

After towing an aircraft, be mindful to disconnect the towbar once you are done with it. Resting the towbar on the spat (the wheel cover) will break the composite material over time. The towbar itself is also a tripping hazard.

Likewise, the apron is a very busy and confined space. Make sure you don't use excessive power when taxing in close proximity to people, aircraft or other obstacles.

DO NOT DO RUN UPS ON THE APRON.

Do the run-ups towards taxiway C or on the western apron. When doing run-ups ensure your prop wash is aimed AWAY from any aircraft.

How are we doing?

As part of our future plans for the clubs website and various marketing platforms we are looking for you, our valued club members, to write a review or leave a thumbs up. We need your help to spread the word about the clubs facilities and culture in order to help promote our services. It would be greatly appreciated if you could spare a few minutes of your time and head over to Facebook and/or Google and leave a review.
