From the Publisher's Desk

Dear <<First Name>>,

We are headed into September with poetry books on the mind. This month we will be presenting new titles from Arlice Davenport (Wichita, KS) and 2021 Birdy winner, Alison Hicks (Havertown, PA). We are studying proofs for Brenda White (Emporia, KS) and 2021 Birdy Finalist, Kenneth Pobo (Media, PA). And before the year is up, we will add titles by Bart Edelman (Pasadena, CA), Ivan Hobson (Martinez, CA), Cheryl Unruh (Emporia, KS), and more!

As you can see, Meadowlark Poetry Press has spread its wings, and we are flying! From Pennsylvania to Oregon and California, from South Dakota to Louisiana, we are well on our way to publishing poetry from coast to coast. And with the fourth Birdy Poetry Prize competition now open for submissions, we look forward to receiving new poetry titles from nearly every state in the nation.

For those of you who love your prose, don't worry. We have new fiction and nonfiction titles in the works, as well. James Kenyon has written a delightful collection of cat stories that should be complete just in time for the winter holidays. Michael Graves has been hard at work on the fourth book in the Pete Stone, Private Investigator Series. We have more in the pipeline, and we look forward to sharing about them soon!

If you have not yet picked up a copy of 105 Meadowlark Reader, the Beginnings issue, please grab one when you visit one of our partner bookstores. If there is not a bookstore in your vicinity, please consider subscribing. The second issue, Road Trips, will begin shipping in November.

Thank you for your interest in Meadowlark! We are so pleased you are taking this journey with us.

--Much Love & Good Reading--

Books are a way to explore, connect, and discover. Poetry incites us to observe and think in new ways, bridging our experiences and our artistic need to express those experiences in language that helps us shape the world.

Publishing poetry is our way of saying—

        We love these words,

        we want to preserve them,

we want to play a role in sharing them with the world.
