HSC partnership with rural Texas hospital boosts health literacy and cultural humility
As Titus County grew into a COVID-19 hot spot last summer, Terry Scoggin, CEO of Titus Regional Medical Center, realized the rural hospital he leads needed to make some big changes.
Scoggin called the Texas Organization of Rural and Community Hospitals, which referred him to HSC and its SaferCare Texas initiative.
TCOM professor appointed to state council overseeing opioid settlement funds
John Mills, DO, a long-time HSC faculty member, has been appointed to serve on the Texas Opioid Abatement Fund Council by Governor Greg Abbott.
The Council’s duties include developing the approved Texas list of abatement strategies based on the existing national list of opioid abatement strategies and approving expenditures and the release of funds acquired through legal settlements with the manufactures of opioids. The terms expire at the pleasure of the Governor.
