UPDATE FROM HARRIET ROBERTS, OPERATIONS & PROJECTS MANAGER, STANLEY GRANGE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
Happy Birthday to Nigel who enjoyed an outing to Southport to celebrate last week.

Pizza Party
6 August

Our National Lottery funded summer activities programme continued as we got together  in bubbled groups to learn how to make homemade pizzas. Meanwhile Kevin and the Future Directions team put on a fantastic Italian Kitchen Disco Funtime Friday broadcasting across the network on Facebook live with amazing costumes. This was the first time many of us have enjoyed using the new facilities since lockdown supported by the Oliver Ford Foundation. Hi Paula!
4 August

It was a pleasure to pay a visit to Marle House in Oldham to properly meet Paula Braynion from Future Directions for the first time. I was keen for her to know how welcome I’ve been made to feel by the whole team at Stanley Grange in my first few weeks. The sun was shining so we were able to sit outside and chat about our shared vision to build on the  great 5 year partnership between Future Directions and Stanley Grange Community Association

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL REPORT
Well done and thanks to Operational Network Manager, Lorraine Chapman-Linnett and the Future Directions support team for a fantastic report by Melissa Renwick, Contracts Assurance Officer, Residential Central Quality, Contracts and Safeguarding Adult Service at Lancashire county council following a local authority inspection last month. Thanks also to family members who provided such positive personal feedback.
GARDEN CENTRE CAFE CONSULTATION
A partnership team has been formed to develop ideas for the plant centre including providing parking facilities and an onsite cafe. The group is led by Trustee, David Bell and his wife, Pat with Trustee, Jenny Dagnall working alongside Emily Paine and John Exton from the Future Directions Business Development team. A webinar to discuss initial thoughts was held last week, but unfortunately many were unable to attend in person. A follow up visit with a walk around the site is being arranged for early September and I am working with the Friends and Family Forum on a date to suit as many as possible.
MUG SHOT
Thanks to local photographer, Paul Adams who took my picture last week for the SGCA website, ‘on the house’. Paul specialises in commercial photography and his business struggled during lockdown so he turned to shelf stacking at Tesco. He’s busier than ever now that restrictions have lifted but he generously donated his services, refusing to take payment with the instruction to ‘pay it forward’.  You can read the official press release about my job on the new website.
