Aloha HCEOC community!

Mahalo for your patience and continued support during the temporary pause of these regular newsletter communications. Our organization has navigated many changes over the past few months, including staffing transitions, office relocations, and of course the continued development of the COVID-19 pandemic. Here is what we’ve been up to:

UPDATES & ANNOUNCEMENTS

HCEOC continues to abide by local, state, and federal regulations requiring the use of masks and social distancing while indoors, regardless of vaccination status. Read our COVID-19 response here.

Our office remains closed to walk-in appointments except on an as-needed basis. Mahalo for your understanding.

Welcoming Kupuna Care

In partnership with the Hawaii County Office of Aging and the Aging & Disability Resource Center, our newest program, Kupuna Care, provides support services for older adults to live independently in their homes. To helm this program, we welcomed two case managers to our staff, Terran Kaleiwahea and Shanel Na‘auao. Visit hceoc.net/kupunacare to learn more.
Fundraising

This July, the HCEOC Kitchen partnered with Hilo Crescent City Lions Club for a fundraiser supporting civic service. Kitchen Manager Darrell Egami and the Food Service team prepared a custom menu of ready-bake pot pies. To learn about how our Food Service program can support your organization’s fundraising efforts, contact Food Service Program Manager Cheryl Octavio at 961-2681 or coctavio@hceoc.net.
Senior Farmers Market

The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program is now closed, having distributed all available market vouchers to hundreds of qualifying low-income seniors. This program will return in 2022; until then, visit hceoc.net/SFMNP for more information.

Emergency Rental Assistance

The Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) is still accepting applications! ERAP provides rent and utility assistance to qualifying households who have directly or indirectly lost income due to COVID-19. To coordinate this program, we brought on board ERAP Manager Loke Kuamo‘o and an intake team who have been hard at work processing applications and doing outreach. Apply at hceoc.net/ERAP, or reach out at 808-934-7214 or ERAP@hceoc.net.
