Hey,

Before we get stuck into this week's newsletter, a quick announcement. I’m back on Instagram. 😲

You’ll have noticed that this newsletter has become very health focused. That’s because being fit and healthy in my forties is one of my biggest priorities and interests. My perspective on what being fit and healthy means and how to achieve it has changed as I’ve gotten older. And I’m learning a lot about the best strategies be at my fittest and healthiest.

I wanted a separate place to go all in on health and fitness topics. To share my ideas, other people's ideas, my learnings and progress. So, if you want to hear more about this, give me a follow.

I’ll still share some health topics in this newsletter, but expect the ideas to be more balanced on how to be the best version of yourself – and live a full, happy life.

Ok, back to the program. Here’s a brief idea from me, and a few content recommendations that have the potential to shift your thinking in a significant way.

IDEA FROM ME:

Your actions ARE your priorities.

I always come back to this because it’s just so powerful. It forces you to be accountable. You can’t argue against it – every excuse falls away.

Sometimes I’ll have a day where I focus on the wrong things. It’s easy to make excuses about why – but ultimately how I spend my time is within my own control.

I’ll hear a friend make excuses about why they can’t work out, or make time to see their friends. If they wanted enough, they would. But, instead they chose to do other things, which are their actual priorities.

So, how do you align your actions with your priorities? It’s actually quite simple.

1. Prioritise the time to think and decide what’s most important to you

2. Learn how to organise your life so that you spend time on what’s important to you.

Of course, I’m over-simplifying it. It can take years to find a system and process for doing this effectively. But, there might not be a better return on investment for your time spent doing this.

THINGS TO SHARE:

James Clear – finding an expert and apprenticing under them (tweet)

Most successful people will talk about a special mentor to them early in their career. And in fact one of the biggest ways to get stuck in the early stages of your career is the absence of one.

I think it’s really important to do whatever it takes to find that situation. It’s 10 times more important than money, the title, or the organisation. Just find someone who is where you want to be, is a good teacher and get closer to them.

Brad Sulberg – a change of scenery (tweet)

I recently went on a leadership team offsite. We stayed somewhere for a couple of nights. The change in environment was definitely a factor in loosening everyone up and getting some ideas flowing.

It doesn’t have to be big. Go for a walk. Work at a co-working space or cafe for a day. Go stay somewhere by yourself for a couple of nights.

Have a GREAT weekend!

Cheers,
Daniel
