CELEBRATING THE "FRENCH CHEF" - JULIA CHILD

Julia Child has been one of my favorite "foodies" for quite some time. My children used to love watching her TV show, mesmerized by her voice and personna. As an amateur chef, her cookbooks have long been a staple on my shelves.
For our Kick-Off event for Jersey Shore Restaurant Week in November, we are honoring her with a menu of some of her most iconic dishes. We are fortunate to have Terry Eletherliou
, Executive Chef, Co-owner of Shipwreck Grill in Brielle and 6 time TASTE Award winner, as our host and curator. This is our tentative menu and wine pairings:
Reception
Champignons Farci - Gruyère Stuffed Mushrooms
Gougères - French Cheese Puffs
Wine Pairing: 2019 Maison Louis Latour Chablis La Chanfleure
First Course
Vichyssoise – Chilled Potato & Leek Soup
Wine Pairing: 2018 Louis Latour Pouilly-Fuisse
Second Course
Salade Nicoise
Wine Pairing: 2019 Louis Latour Bourgogne Aligote

Third Course

THE 50 BEST BARS IN NYC RIGHT NOW

Written by  Amber Sutherland-Namako &  Time Out contributors

Everything’s easier when you're drinking out at a bar. Your dive’s beer is frosty, the wine bar has harder-to-find bottles and cocktail destinations shake and stir myriad ingredients into ideally calibrated glassware. (It's just not the same at home!) The options are unending, the ice is nicer and you aren’t just drinking, you’re at the spot.

Whether you’ve recently curated the best to-go cocktails in your neighborhood, learned to make the classics at home or simply become a super-regular at the liquor store, it's time to take it easy once more. These are the 50 best bars in NYC.

1. Mace
Mace has been a regular on local and international “best of” lists since it first opened in 2015. A recent move to West 8th Street gives the perennial fave a little more room for outdoor dining, in addition to a comfortable interior and 27-foot zinc bar. Its record of excellence, combined with a fresh new location helps it land in our top spot. Sip spice and botanical-forward cocktails like the rye-based Lavender or frozen Wasabi + Cilantro with rum, and see how fast you’ll make Mace your own personal recommendation.

FIND YOUR BEST WEEKEND - THE PITCHER INN
About 30-45 minutes south of Stowe on Rt. 100 is the picturesque little hamlet of Warren, Vermont, just outside the Sugarbush ski area. With a covered bridge and an authentic general store, it is the quintessential Vermont village. After the original 1800’s building burned to the ground in 1993, David Sellers and a team of architects set about rebuilding The Pitcher Inn with an eye toward preserving its original design but with the rooms patterned to reflect the individual designers’ interpretation of a particular Vermont theme. The result is nothing short of spectacular. READ MORE
