The Cello Museum Weekly Newsletter

Volume II | Number 35 | 28 August 2021

Hello, and happy Saturday, cello friends!

Here's a summary of what you will find in this newsletter - the links in this section will take you straight to that part of the email:

This week's feature is the August installment of That's What She Said (Postcards from Erica).
Make sure also to check out our weekly news and listing of online concerts and events.

Be prepared for any type of weather (or those "interesting hair" mornings) with a stylish cap from our Museum Shop.

Belgian artist Tim Duernick used environmentally-friendly flax to create a different type of fiber cello - stop by our current exhibition, Innovations in Cello-Making Materials, for a closer look.

Don't miss any of our Cello Birthdays series celebrating cellists, composers of cello music, cello makers, and people with strong ties to the cello world.

Dr. Leonovich has been extremely busy with more Popper editions this week.

Finally, please be sure to read the new note from our curator, Dr. Brenda Neece.

Thank you for reading -- enjoy this week's content!

Cello Birthdays
Every day in our Cello Birthdays series, we celebrate those who are or have been part of the cello world, including cellists, composers of cello music, cello makers, and authors of cello books.

This is a work in progress that started this month. Let us know about any birthdays we should consider adding.

Please keep in mind that we highlight those where we can find media (videos, photos, audio recordings) that we can share online.
New Cello Editions
Dr. Leonovich continues his work on David Popper compositions. This week's editions are:
You can find these and more at a new page on his website: "David Popper's Work List and Editions"
Curator's Note
It’s hard to believe that August is almost over. Thank you for joining us on this wonderful cello adventure.

The Cello Museum is about to celebrate its first birthday. To mark the occasion, next month, we will be having some exciting giveaways.

As we look ahead, what subjects would you like us to cover next year? Reach out and let us know.

September features the return of our Cello Book Club - this month spotlights Mellow Cello: A Collection of Short Stories for Cellists – a wonderful collection of short stories by cellist (and writer!), Gill Tennant. Read our review.

As we move into this new school year, we are about to take on more interns. Do you know of someone who might be interested? If so, please have that person contact me soon.

Please keep in touch. I always love to hear from you.
