 HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK

Communities coming together to #ActOnNCDs

In just under one week, the 4th Global Week for Action on NCDs will take place from 6 - 12 September 2021. This year we will celebrate the power and potential of communities. Communities power governments and we all have the right to participate in decisions that affect our lives and our health. We invite you to show your support and Be a Voice of Change. Share your voice and tell the world how NCDs impact you, and why leaders must move beyond commitments to take action.

During the week, we'll also be launching the new Global Charter on Meaningful Involvement of People Living with NCDsThis Global Charter seeks to mobilise commitment from organisations, institutions, governments and the private sector to place people living with NCDs and communities at the centre of the NCD response.

FIND improves the affordability of blood-glucose-monitoring

Last week, FIND, the global alliance for diagnostics, announced that it will improve the affordability of blood glucose test strips in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs). In LMICs, people living with diabetes are more prone to diabetes-related complications due to their inability to self-monitor blood glucose levels regularly. Increasing the affordability of glucose testing is an urgent priority in LMICs: one in three people with diabetes has never had their levels measured.
