A Message from Mrs. Lanz about Open House

Dear Parents,

Just a reminder that parents are invited to our annual CHS/CJHS Open House which will be held on Thursday, September 9th from 6:00-8:30. Please come and share the evening with us as you meet your student’s teachers, receive information on his/her classes, and fellowship with other families and friends. The General Assembly begins in the Generations Building Event Center promptly at 6:00 pm. After the General Assembly, you will follow your student’s schedule and experience a “day of school”.  We are suggesting the easiest way to navigate the schedule of your students’ day, is to download the RenWeb mobile app and follow your student’s schedule in the app. You can also click here and print out a bell schedule for your child to fill in with their schedule.

With Gratitude,

Susan Lanz

SPORTS

Flag Football Coaches:  This year our Jr.High sports program is in need of 3 flag football coaches and two cheer coaches for the fall season.  It is very part time and goes a max of 3 times per week, and yes there are coaches stipends. The fall season will run from September to October, and possibly the first week of November.  It is very fun and rewarding, so if you would like to help our program out, or have a few questions, please contact me, Jim Fuller at:  jim.fuller@christianunified.org

Christian Jr. High Athletics: In a couple of weeks we will have sign ups for our up and coming fall sports. The featured sports will be boys flag football, girls volleyball , boys and girls cross country, and cheer. The practices (only 3 days per week) will start in early September, with league games starting towards the end of September and run to the first of November. There is no sports physical needed for the Jr. High sports. My actual league scheduling meeting is not until September 13.

CSF: CALIFORNIA SCHOLARSHIP FEDERATION

CSF: California Scholarship Federation is our state honors society. The Gold Cord is earned for graduation, and the high school transcript. Qualification is determined by rigorous coursework and points scored for an A or B. Electives may be used once, if all other points are in academic coursework. This is required every semester.
The first semester CSF campaign will be in effect now through September 23rd. Students should bring a hard copy of their Spring 2021 report card to Mrs. Breeden in room 704  verification along with $5.00 for the membership dues.
Please do not go to the office or the Counseling Center for a copy of your report.  If you need a copy, let Mrs. Breeden know, and then pay $6.00 instead of $5.00 for her to get your report card. Remember there is no retroactive enrollment for membership. Seniors must have at least one semester of their senior year in CSF to qualify for a gold cord at graduation. Please try to complete this first semester. Spring 2021, second semester sophomores, this begins the journey towards the gold. Juniors, remember the entire junior year is working towards the gold. Thank you.

TRIPS

High School Missions Trip: If you are interested in going on a missions trip to Costa Rica, Los Angeles, or Salt Lake City, then come to the informational meeting on Tuesday, at lunch in room 200 for more information.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Please remember to turn in your Community Service Hours Served log sheet to Mrs. Blake (Room 802) or the front office within two weeks of the first day of school to get processed.
If you are looking for a great place to serve, the cafe Bookstore (across from the cafe in the Generations building) is looking for
volunteers! If interested, please contact Mr. Drew Hewett @ 619-357-1029 or stop by!

Lunch

Order ahead to save time! Boonli is the ordering site for the Oasis and orders must be submitted by 10am on the day before it is needed. You can order for several days and/or up to several weeks in advance. For the Café: Only Juniors and Seniors can access the Café during lunch time. Take out orders only! You can order up to 15 minutes before service for the Café. You may experience a long wait time due to volume if your orders are not made in advance.

UNIFORM UPDATE

We are working really hard to get what items we can in with the supply issues we are dealing with and to fulfill all items that you are waiting on. When your order is ready for pickup you will get a call. If you do not get a call then it is not ready. We appreciate your patience.
If you have been called to pick up your order, please come during the following hours:
Monday (8/30) - Friday (9/3) 1-5pm
We are in the Generations Building on the Shadow Mountain Community Church campus (it is the really big building behind the church), on the 3rd floor, room 323.
If you have exchanges, please make an appointment on the website for this. Exchanges will not be done at time of pickup. The replacement items you will need in exchange will be ordered and can take a minimum of 10 business days to get in. All inventory we have in now is to fulfill orders, it is not for purchase.
If you just have a straight return, you can do that during the pickup time hours. No appointment needed.
Thank you for your help and God Bless,
Doug Whitney
