03 September 2021

Dear <<First Name>>.

This week I was in Canberra for the final sitting week of this period. Parliament will not sit again until late October.

Once again, I spoke about the effect lockdown has been having on our community and the failure of both the State and Federal Governments in their approach to the Pandemic.

I hope everyone is keeping as well as they can. If you need help with any Federal matters you can leave a voicemail on 8783 0977, email my office at anne.stanley.mp@aph.gov.au or send me a message on Facebook.

If you need mental health support, or just someone to talk to, you can call Lifeline on 131 114, Beyond Blue on 1800 512 348, or Suicide Callback on 1300 659 467.

Kind Regards

Anne

Government Handling of the Pandemic

This week in Parliament, I spoke about the poor Government handling of the COVID 19 pandemic.

Governing is about responsibility and leadership. It is time we had a Government and a Prime Minister who is willing to follow through with both.

Limited Pfizer Walk in Vaccinations

In an effort to support an increased rate of first-dose vaccinations across LGAs of concern, South Western Sydney Local Health District are offering a limited number of walk-in Pfizer vaccinations at three of its vaccination centres until Sunday 5 September.

Walk-in Pfizer vaccinations will be offered between 8am and 4.30pm.

Locations are below:

  • Bankstown PCYC – Corner of French Avenue and Meredith Street, Bankstown
  • Prairiewood – 194-222 Restwell Road, Prairiewood
  • Macquarie Fields – Glenquarie Town Centre, Corner of Victoria Road and Brooks Street, Macquarie Fields

Liverpool Hospital Video Series

I urge everyone to follow this video series on Liverpool Hospital's Facebook page to follow the indispensable work our doctors and nurses are doing everyday to combat COVID-19 in South-West Sydney.

I thank each and everyone of them for their work over the last 18 months on the front-lines, putting themselves at risk. Without your courage and effort I can't imagine what we would be facing.

Local Council Elections - Postponed

It has come to my attention that many people have received a letter in the last week telling them that a Council election would be held on 4th September.

This letter has taken over two months to be delivered to you as it was sent at the end of June before the lockdown and the State Government’s decision to postpone the election to 4th December.

I apologise for the confusion and inconvenience but it has been outside my control. I am trying to determine was has caused this issue.

Council elections are currently set to be held on 4 December 2021.

Carnes Hill Pfizer Vaccination Hub

From Monday 6 September, a Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination hub will open at Carnes Hill Community Centre.

The hub will service members of the community whose individual needs are not typically met by mainstream clinics including those living with disability, seniors and carers.

The hub will administer Pfizer vaccinations and operate seven days a week on a bookings only basis

This is great news for our community and I will provide more details when I have them.

This Week In Parliament

Although there weren't many Members in Parliament this week, there were still many great speeches.

Below are just some of my favourites.

Anthony Albanese

Leader of the Opposition Anthony Albanese, further outlines the failure of the Government to plan through, and beyond, the Pandemic.

Mike Freelander

My electorate neighbour, the Member for Macarthur, Mike Freelander, spoke about the continued double standard communities in South-West Sydney receive.

Julian Hill

My colleague Julian Hill, gave a heartbreaking speech as he read out emails and letters he has received from his constituents who have been affected by the recent events in Afghanistan.
